It's not the precedent in the UFC to send current champions (especially the one with the most LW title defenses) up to fight contenders the next weight class up. Conor, Volk, DC, Adesanya etc all moved up to immediately fight for the undisputed title, that's the standard.

Why don’t they just switch it to a PPV? Perth makes perfect sense, have it in the same arena islam fought Volk. That stadium was electric and it’s a nice circular story arc. I just hope the crowd has more respect for Islam this time.

I'm all for switching it but thought they usually have PPV locations set out for the year with contracts in place and shit. Assume to switch it they'd have to fuck someone else over. Not against that at all if it happens, particularly if it's a US city like Vegas or something given they get PPVs all the time.
