Islam is a lot taller so chances of him weighing more than Volk are very likely BUT his height/weight ratio was less than Volk imo. Islam looked quite lean where as Volk looked rather thick.

He definitely looked bigger against Charles.

It's not about the pounds as much as it is being at your full strength and still suffering from cutting dehydration.

Any fighter that calls out someone below them for a first defense (no matter how good that fighter is) is avoiding the bigger challenge (the rightful #1 contender). Team Khabib contradicting themselves after saying Dariush would be the guy. They 100% didn’t make this call out thinking it was the most “badass” move.

I like Islam though and am hoping he remains active and if he does he will be up there. He’s not serious at all about welter right now he’s literally said every time in the last few weeks he’s asked “I have really hard time with welters and ugh ugh ugh never talked about it to Khabib it’s just what coach Javier thinks”. He’s 100% not confident there and keeps claiming he’s too small, the only thing he says is “easy weight cut and it’s nice to eat”. He has literally said nothing about fighting there anytime soon at all. That’s a big leap and word twisting.

As for the no diva display……. He was whining about how the event was being promoted while not wanting to promote and team Khabib might be the biggest divas / Karens in the game tbh.

Islams definitely got the best run going for a LW title holder. Beating Charles and Volk (even if Dariush did get shafted) is better than what any LW champion has done, way better than Khabib Iaquinta and Conor at the same point.

If Islam takes a fight while the contender is being decided (Volk or Dustin) and then fights the winner of Charles and Dariush contends fight that will definitely bump his stock high (he’s UFC LW GOAT doing this). If he sits and waits until fall while contenders eliminate each other he’s using the Khabib blueprint that’s meh.

Volkanovski is a clear liar. He told Helwani that he was around 168. That’s a lie.
He looked much bigger in this fight than against Mendez. His weight in the mendes fight was 167 at featherweight.
He has also been caught in his own videos confirming that he has to eat 4000 to 5000 calories each day. He was bulking.
How in the world can he have almost the same weight as in the Mendes fight. That’s impossible. His weight was around 178 or 180.

That is pretty much the max given the 36hr period, not sabotoged by Aussie special Volk rules that definitely would not have been in place if Volk was fighting at featherweight because he has fought in California and officially shown 21lbs scale to cage increase, Jon Jones only added 18 at the same event. Khabib stated he did 21lbs against Gaethje. I'm sure Islam does the same.

Yeah it was pretty well known that Volk would be fighting the winner of Islam vs Charles long before that fight ever happened. People conveniently choose to ignore that though and act like Islam tried to hand pick a fight he thought would be easy.

Well there's some past info to go on. Volk's documented cage weight was nearly 167 (which is actually more of the mid range for LW's) at FW, so we have to assume it's more at LW. So we at least start at ">168."
I don't know the report, but I saw mentioned somewhere that Islam was documented at 176, (wouldn't have been Cali, I don't think), and since the biggest LW's have seemingly been about 176, that's probably fair.

However, they were both affected by having about 2/3rds of the normal rehydration time, so I don't think Islam would be the usual 176 (which is also why I didn't add more than a single pound to Volks minimum despite the weight jump either).

So the range would fairly be about:
Volk > 168
Islam < 176

I mean, Islam was always going to be a bit bigger, but considering California's average LW on fight night is 168 and Volk already bordered that when he was FW, means the size difference would be no bigger than your standard LW fight

Not to hate on Islam because he did fight Charles and Volk in a short period but all champs give that "fight anyone, anytime" and then disappear and fight once a year.
