News Islam Makhachev vs Jack Della - UFC 322:MSG - Nov 2025

Favoring Islam 60-40. Looking forward to this one!

Great fight …..hoping Islam loses a close competitive division in a great fight and immediately returns to the 155 division to challenge Topuria

Word is that Islam retires win or lose against JDM..

Again, i agree JDM is "bigger", but its very marginal IMO. Size isn't a MASSIVE factor in this fight. Speed/Footwork of JDM is.

Islam is slightly bigger than Belal when they stand next to eachother.

When JDM and Belal faced off it was an extremely small difference

by bigger you mean taller. Yes he’s slightly taller then belal

Like bro said we have confirmed size difference between JDM and Islam so all the height watching is for nada. 178 and 189 respectively

So yeah.. not insurmountable. Islam will get to 185 quite easily

I just think that 15 pound jump can’t be underedtkmated

JDM been taking punches from more powerful strikes and wrestling much stronger wrestlers

Islams size advantage is baked into his success at lightweight.

Not impressed by JDM. Islam won't find many better matchups to speedrun the title.

I think Islam grabs the belt and drops back down to face Ilia, never touching 170 again unless another favorable matchup emerges

Not even sure JDM has much of an advantage striking, let alone if Islam decides to grapple. Islam's apparently not putting on weight as easily as he hoped, so maybe JDM will have enough of a size advantage to muscle out of some grappling exchanges, but Islam opening as the -200 favorite sounds about right.

Do we know Ilia's going to sit out and wait and that they'll give him a title shot in a 3rd division within 10 UFC fights? If he has to fight Arman first, the odds of Arman winning that are better than of JDM beating Islam. They might give him Paddy or Gaethje just to say he defended the title to set up the fight, even though none of his fights at LW were against the #1 contender.
Yeah I know there are multiple ways that the stars don’t align. The meritocracy side of me very much wants Ilia vs Arman as his first defense because not only is Arman the most deserving but it is the most interesting style clash. I agree though, they’ll probably do something idiotic like Ilia vs Paddy fresh off his victory over Mike “1-4 in his last five and that win was over the guy that set the record for the most consecutive losses in UFC history” Chandler.

Size and improvements are one thing but I just don't see Islam losing this. He will do anything to not have to have to look at Khabibs dissatisfied face and crawl back to LW a loser.

Leaning towards jdm because of the size advantage.

There's alot of big guys at ww.

If Islam wins I imagine immediately retirement is probably on the table, with the exception of a Ilia super-fight at 170 which... who knows this timeline is already crazy.

JDM going to back to back split decisions with journeyman Bassil Hafez and Holland, to beating up Belal for 5 rounds two years apart. Styles make fights and all but Jack is a guy that should have a nomination for most improved. Presumably he's still getting better right now.

Legit can't wait for this fight.
I'm not trying to take the shine off JDM winning a belt is amazing but I feel like we're going too see Belal drop off and JDM was just right place right time to catch a beast right as he got old and was coming back from injury. Wish we'd seen Belal have a fight since dropping the belt to see how he looks vs another contender at 36.

Jack makes it look easy. Islam’s going to be chasing him around the octagon desperate for a takedown that he won’t be able to get.

And new.

I was hoping the betting line would be close but nope it's -265 Islam.

He broke his arm early in the Burns fight.
He has shown that he's difficult to take down and also very difficult to control if taken down.

I'm leaning JDM, but you never know.
Islam might just snatch up a d'arce choke in a scramble.
JDM went to a split decision with....Bassil Hafez (who?) and Kevin Holland in 2023.

I've been counting him out ever since. I don't even know how he's holding a belt right now. This should be easy work for Islam.

They've both fought in California and CSAC publishes fight night weights:

- Islam was 178lbs at UFC 311 in the cage.

- Jack was 189lbs at UFC 270 in the cage.

Both guys are bone dry when they weigh in with visible abs throughout. So you're looking at ~11lbs difference in lean body mass. That is a very big gap in combat sports.
I don't think there's going to be any major size difference on Fight Night. Khabib and Islam aren't the type of people to take huge risks and put themselves at a big disadvantage for no reason. If the stories are true that Islam manhandles Belal in training and dominates him, then Islam is probably going to make this look easy.

My thing … if Islam wins (and he has a chance for sure) … I don’t think this is a long term move … could see him retire

Cannot see him defending and ruling the ww division - no chance

I think its win or lose and retire

He’ll do anything to not fight ilia

If he wins, you don't retire if you are 1 fight away of the absolute record (he would be tied with AS @ 16) for longest win streak in the UFC.

Plus, he has said himself he wants to face Shavkat.

He faced a roided wrestler on 1 days notice.

I remember that he kept going for guillotines in that fight, then by round 3 he managed to keep it standing and damaged him badly.
Even in that fight, he showed some good scrambles and ability to safely get up to his feet.

Kevin Holland enjoyed an 8 inch reach advantage, that's not an easy matchup for someone who is primarily a boxer.

A split decision always sound bad, but I thought he clearly won 29-28, and so did every media outlet.

He looked a lot better in his takedown defense vs Belal, when he actually had a camp to prepare (with Craig Jones).

I think he also prepared his TDD a lot before facing Burns, where he managed to win even with a broken arm.

My point is that he has shown big improvements since the Hafez-fight, so I wouldn't put that fight into much consideration when predicting JDM vs Islam.
