News Islam Makhachev vs Jack Della - UFC 322:MSG - Nov 2025

This is gonna go down like Khamzat vs Whiitaker.

Makachev is gonna take him down then rip at a limb for a submission win in the first round.
Book it.

I got Islam by submission. I just don’t see Islam going toe to toe with JDM

Same. But after the Belal fight I turned into a believer of JDM. He handled Belal with ease. I know many ppl joke around & give Belal shit, but in reality, not too many ppl was picking against Belal vs JDM & thought it was gonna be a cake walk for Belal. Not only was it no cake walk, but Belal lost his belt against JDM.
I doubted JDM against Belal, but even after that fight, I still think if Belal can lose a 48-47, then Islam at minimum take an extra round. Maybe people see something I don't, but Islam at WW will likely have better striking, subs, and wrestling than Belal. Maybe even size because he has a big frame.

Islam's chin should be sturdier at this weight but I'm still not super confident in it, plus he's also fighting a guy who punches in a weight class above too. I think this could potentially mean the grave for him in this fight.

But if that's not the case I think you're right. It'll be closer on the feet and Islam will be able to get the scorecards on his side in enough rounds with the help of a takedown here and there, some control time and a little bit of GnP even if it all was fairly uneventful.

Wouldn't really be shocked if he just rips a sub off either.

Great fight honestly because there's several different dramatically different ways this can go that all seem fairly reasonable.

Thinking about the danger Islam is putting himself into taking this fight makes me sick. Islam needs to win... If he can pull this off, it sets up Islam vs Topuria, which will be the biggest fight in MMA history

Topuria could become the first 3 division champion

Feel bad for all the welterwaiters, but this fight is even bigger than MMA itself.

To me Islam is very conservative with his striking that doesn't give much openings. You're right his chin will likely be better, but I can't remember the last time it even got tested. His striking defense is pretty good.

Belal waded out into strikes with JDM, I think Islam's chin hangs in there just as much. I keep bringing up Belal, but that's because I always saw him as a budget version of dagistani's, where Islam is the real deal. Personally I'll be shocked if this isn't a layup for Islam.

His defense is pretty good but in 25 minutes it's hard to go untouched.

Belal waded into the strikes because he was hoping to employ the same pressure style he did vs Leon but he got chewed the fuck up.

Belal has an absolutely ridiculous chin btw. I would not look at Belal eating something and think someone else will eat it just as well, haha.

Just dont see a way JDM wins in this. I will root for him as I cant root for a Dagestani but think ita a Mak 2nd rd finish after a dominant 1st. There ate a few at ww I think Mak struggles with - Shavatvand Morales - maybe Garry too hes cringy AF but hes actually pretty good . JDM I jist dont think he has the skill set

Maybe I'll be surprised when the fight happens and it's not absolute Islam domination. I've been waiting for someone to test him, expected Arman or Topuria to do that. The size argument has been overblown lately, many have been using the logic that slightly bigger is enough to close gap in skills. JDM will be a bigger WW. But I think Islam will be average sized.

We'll see though, I think if JDM pulls this off I'm never doubting him again. WW is pretty stacked right now.

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning JDM.

Belal was on a incredibly impressive 10 fight streak and out working everyone. Belal's win over Brady aged really well, dude is a problem. The fact that Jack had virtually zero problems with Belal's pressure grappling style over 5 rounds says a lot.

Islam is good at everything and his submission grappling is going to be the most sophisticated Jack has ever seen. No doubt about it. The size and physicality gap is going to be a disadvantage here, and Islam is not acclimated to getting hit by humans with the size and power of JDM.

60/40 JDM?? and probably a TKO.

Big time fight feel!

Who are you picking?

This is a bizarre comparison but Jones x DC 1 gave me a rare heightened anxiousness in the lead up because my brain could not contemplate either of them losing an MMA fight. I had that feeling about this fight when it was announced.

I re-watched JDM x Belal and man... I have a hard time thinking Islam can take those punches. Holy shit Belal is made of bricks.

JDM will be bigger and has a brutal, rough fighting styIe. I really think where gonna see a one sided beatdown if it stays on the feet.

Jumping up weight classes is tough. Thats why most champs dont do it and the ones that do only stick around as champs in new weight class for a while.

I think Jack should win to be honest. He's the younger, bigger man, and he scrambles like he's on fire. It's a tough fight for Islam in my opinion, but If Islam wins, damn, that's some legendary shit.

I definitely don't foresee any major size advantage for JDM, at least not meaningfully so.

If Islam wins I imagine immediately retirement is probably on the table, with the exception of a Ilia super-fight at 170 which... who knows this timeline is already crazy.

JDM going to back to back split decisions with journeyman Bassil Hafez and Holland, to beating up Belal for 5 rounds two years apart. Styles make fights and all but Jack is a guy that should have a nomination for most improved. Presumably he's still getting better right now.

Legit can't wait for this fight.
