Islam Makhachev should not move up to WW but instead clean out the LW division if he beats Arman he should go for the record title defenses

Aren't the Dagestani fighters in particular more than just prize fighters? Don't they, for the most part, exhibit a certain martial pride akin to Bushido? I'm thinking of Khabib as an example, as he evidently walked away from substantial income opportunities in the cage?

Serious query. I'm neither a a Muslim nor a "Dagestani fan"; I'm just remarking on what appears to be their ethos compared to a lot of other ethnicities.

As the second biggest Islam fan on these boards, I have to say, I would prefer to see him move up.
One, because those weight cuts are brutal. Secondly, because it kills me how people unceasingly try to disparage Khabib for having never moved up.

I'd like to see a rematch with Charles and maybe a fight with Gamrot just for the fun of it. After that, Islam should test himself at 170. LW is a top-heavy log jam where guys just keep fighting each other and shifting amongst themselves in the top 7-8 of the rankings. Beating Arman already gives him the record for LW title defenses, beating the champ + top contenders at 170 does more for his legacy than staying in a division he's already cleared out. Higher risk but also higher reward.
