News Islam Makhachev becomes #1 P4P

@Killer Kadoogan combos are nice, just here to appreciate the true talk. Good to see people are already aware of the wolf tickets IVlam sells lol.

And again:

And why? Only because that's the obvious thing that needs to be said. I know you and IVlam fanatics don't bear reality, but reality in cases like that is required. Stop living in a dreamland where Makhachev can beat even HW and etc. Just stop. The guy seems a good fighter, so start defending the belt beating top 5 LWs outside Abu Dhubious, that's what he needs to do. 2 title defenses against a FW, for God's sake. No more FWs, no more wolf tickets. I'm awaiting for him to have a better resume than Charles AT LEAST, because right now he is far away from having the same. Everyone is just tired of nonsense talking all the time.
Cope and seethe.

what a goof move. islam has defended the LW belt against 0 LWs. one of his defenses was against a 10 day short notice fight. LOLOL. this is prime wolf tickets. the we need this guy to sell more PPVs so lets say he's #1 P4P. Even though he's never defended the belt against one LW.
{<BJPeen}

Yeah, the real #1 should be the guy with 1 fight in nearly 4 years who's out for the next 8 months, or the guy who's lost 2 of his last 3 and just had his head kicked into the 3rd row.

Jones will regain #1 in 5 years after 2 guys lift stipe out of his wheelchair to fight jon to a decision win

So what you're saying is Islam only deserves it because the rest of the competition sucks at the moment.

The actual irony is bringing up Conor who's never been higher than P4P #2 when he became the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold 2 belts across weight classes, coming off of a further win at WW on top of that in between. You know, actually doing P4P stuff in real life by having wins in 3 weight classes and 2 titles.

The guy ahead of him for #1 at the time? Mighty Mouse who was coming off his 8th title defence, a 1st round KO over Cejudo. And it was only Mighty Mouse because Jon was suspended at the time.

Meanwhile Islam's getting it for having 1 top 5 win in his entire career and wins over a the guy from the weight class below him, one on short notice, while Jon Jones exists, still hasn't lost, and is a dual weight champ.

Yeah, it is pretty embarrassing to go around cheering about getting to be #1 only when Jon isn't around. 7 years later and it's still happening, and guys like Conor and Mighty Mouse had a hell of a lot better claim at the time than Islam does today.
Rankings don't matter IMO so you can die on that hill if you'd like. I think it's cool for Islam to get that spot but in the grand scheme it doesn't hold that much weight. Just remember that no one was wanting to fight Islam on his way up. We aren't out of the clusterfuck just yet.

That's what rankings are. He has 3 wins over other guys in the top 5, nobody else even has 1.

That's probably cause the only champs with defences are Leon, Islam, and Volk and so you're giving it to Islam by default.

Islam smashed the guy in your display pic with ease, is that why you keep writing essays rallying against him?

Your lack of understanding that Makhachev would still have been unfairly criticized if he took the Gamrot fight is garbage.

<TheWire1>

It's like arguing with a wall.
dumb take. he at least would have defended against a person in his division. which is worse? taking the LW back up fighter or the 10 day short notice Volk from featherweight? garbage.

they're too far gone at this point. 0 LW title defenses = GOAT because ESPN/UFC/Bokamoto/Hyon KO Kim said so. See?

Volk is more dominate and has accomplished far more at his weight class than Islam has it his.

All Volks loss to Islam proves is that Volk isn't SO much better that he can overcome the size difference. I don't think anybody seriously believes that if you scaled Volk's natural frame up to Islam's size that Islam would have much of a chance. Hence Volk is still #1 p4p4.

{<BJPeen}{<BJPeen} you're right, the real #1 is the guy whose never defended his belt in his weight class. that makes more sense.

Come on man, what's worth more? A win over one of the top 3 pound for pound fighters in the sport or a win over a guy who isn't even top 5 in his own division? Get real. :D

he's got one legit win, over volk, a guy who went up in weight class and to many people, beat him. then he beats a 10 day notice volk. a win over gamrot, would have been infinitely better. LOL.

Still no top 5 LWs title defenses, only FWs (same guy, second fight 11 days notice LOL)? Charles still have the way better resume? Ok, come back later! Too much wolf tickets, let's work.

Islam appears to be peaking now, but I don't see how beating a smaller guy (who came off the couch) makes him #1 P4P :confused:

Moving up in weight is supposed to give P4P status, not beating smaller guys who move up in weight to fight you, especially on short notice.

If Islam moves up, and beats Leon Edwards, then yeah, he he will rightfully deserve the #1 spot.

But right now, he does not.

Quite frankly, if Alex Pereira beats Jiri Procházka this weekend, then Alex Pereira should be the #1 P4P fighter, as a titleholder in 2 divisions.

Pereira would have decimated Israel Adesanya — something no other middleweight had done up to that point — he just be the former LHW titleholder and blah Błachowicz — and if he wins the they can LHW Championship, then not only should he be #1 P4P, but arguably Fighter of the Year, for winning two Championship belts, in two divisions, all within one year.
He also got sparked out cold two fights ago. Can't have a fighter of the year that lost their belt by stoppage and left the division.
