Stevie Wonder over hereEven jokes aside, I have a hard time seeing Umar beating either Merab or TurboYan.

Agree- Second fight in 3 months
- Fought Fig who came in overweight
- Fig gave Yan a tougher fight and even dropped Yan
Thread title is sheer stupidity.
How is the guy regressing? He DOMINATED a tough opponent.
Fig was keeping his distance from Umar, to avoid the kicks, and was running the entire time. Fig's only hope in this fight was to have Umar barge in and for Fig to clip him with a counter. Fig wasn't gonna outstrike Umar nor take him down.
Umar played it safe and there was a near 0% chance he would've even gotten a title shot even if he finished Fig, otherwise he wouldn't be on the prelims.
It's funny how no one is criticizing O'Malley who landed fewer strikes than Umar but everyone is giving hell to Umar for not finishing Fig, who by the way hasn't been finished in 5 years.
I hope He is sandbagging. Displaying just enough to win but keeping a few tricks up the sleeve for title shot. Islam sure seemed like he sandbagged for a while then just started going all outJust curious about what everyone thought about Umars fight at 324 against Figgy.
Since his incredible fight with merab, I think that a lot of people have had very high hopes for Umar, Citing He'd be a future champion. I was inclined to agree.
Since that fight he has fought twice. If you ask me, He looked worse against bautista than he did against Merab. He won, and he looked good, But he was incredibly gassed giving his post fight speech. I thought he might have been sick or something, I didn't think too much of it.
then for one reason or another, It seemed he got a step down with the Figgy match up and I really was not impressed at all, I think most agree that he wasn't going to earn a title shot with that performance, and if he showed up like that to merab or yan he'd probably get smoked.
what happened? He showed great promise. but seems to look worse over his last 2 fights. Does he just fight to the level of his competition and sandbag unless he's being pushed? does the Umar we saw at UFC 324 beat O'malley?
He fought 2 dudes that were stalling and not fighting at all, difficult to look good against those guys when they refuse to fight. And if you're comfortably winning, why would u open yourself up and risk getting exposed?Just curious about what everyone thought about Umars fight at 324 against Figgy.

Umar fought safe and conservative, and only to his opponent’s level. Zero pop in his punches. Now that he’s in contention, he’s surely getting coached by the other neckbeards to not take risks and try to finish fights. Sean ain’t fighting him, and frankly, I don’t blame Sean for that. Everything about Umar is boring.
You need an opponent to showcase your skills...
Hard to showcase anything if your opponent is barely moving.

But a potential title shot was on the line, there was a lot of incentive to show out with a good performance. He could have dog walked Figuieredo and made a statement, he just didn’t want to put himself at risk. It is what it is.
