Is this Really Anderson "The Spider" Silva's Boxing Record?

i'll believe it when i see the slightest bit of proof

so far there has been absolutely none materialized

You're a sensitive one arent ya. :icon_cry2

I think the ones being sensitive are those that feel insulted at Boxrec being questioned or assuming that asking if Silva lost a fight that was recently unheard of means the skeptics think he is invincible and beyond such an early blunder.

I've said it 1 million times but that's not what I think. He lost his MMA debut. It's not a controversy that he may have lost his Boxing debut. Neither loss reflects on the fighter he is today, certainly not in MMA and this has nothing to do with Silva being "untainted" for his match with Roy Jones Jr. I don't favor him in that match even if he was 2 - 0 in Boxing.

I just want to see corroborating evidence for the 1998 fight recently added to Boxrec.

McCoy offered a decent lead:

One phone call and a Portuguese friend to translate was all it took.

Sidney Gomes is one of the Boxrec correspondents from Brazil.
In light of Anderson Silva

mmaaddict wants DNA proof of the fight, blood from the boxing canvas

not really, cause it will set him up for a superfight with a champ, in which he will get destroyed (punchers chance rarely happens twice)

but if he does beat the champ, then silva will go down as the greatest FIGHTER ever.

good point, imagine the headline..."Chad Dawson SAVES BOXING!"

I still have Fedor on top. I do agree that he needs to find better competition. Anderson Silva is definitely a beast, but the guys he beat does not match up to the guys Fedor beat.

I don't want to sound crazy, but I personally don't see Fedor fighting Randy being a big step up in solidifying him as one of the greatest. I would like to watch it for sentimental reasons, but seriously... And I the only one who feels this way?

Randy C beat Tim Sylvia and Gabriel Gonzaga to achieve his status. but I think a lot of people have forgotten that a guy who isn't even the champ anymore in a lower weight division has his number.

I watched a special on MMA athletes and they measured Randy's punching power. It is 470 pounds standing up. That is 225 pound man that has a power of a jr. middleweight in boxing. Woot!

any other fighters on the special?

Yes, Tito, Randy, El Guapo, and Dean Lister.

Though Randy punches like a small man, his ground and pound can generate 2200 pounds of force. El Guapo aka Bas Rutten punch as hard as a heavyweight boxer, but what is really impressive is his round house kick. It's about as lethal as 35-40 mph car crash.

let's not forget that early in his mma career AA lost to datsik.

Sports Science which is a spin off from Fight Science is a pretty good show as well.

Since you are so adamant in refusing to acknowledge that fact that Silva is 1-1 in pro boxing, you, YOURSELF, go find the print and digital media (doubt there is any since all the fights on the card were not significant to boxing whatsoever) of the 1998 fight. I am sure the Brazilian Newspapers keep microfilm of their articles. Best of luck. No one is going to put in the effort for you for such a trivial matter.

I can't find a pic of what Julio Cesar De Jesus looks like but here is a link with pics of Silva training and beating up on someone in a Boxing match.

Here's a thought. Read the thread before making assumptions.

Out of ALL the Sherdog boards, I think the folks here in the Boxing forum are the ONLY guys who actually read threads before posting on them and and then form logical, well-thought out arguments based on facts UNLIKE your preferred forums featuring the Lowest Common Denominator of human intelligence with arguments based completely on immature, emotional (ie feminine) responses. There's a handful of good folks in the Heavyweights forum out of a field of thousands.

Seriously, you're talking about the forum like it's a country.

I post wherever. I don't care about the little forum wars.

Despite your gloating about the high intelligence of the Boxing forum your reply post sure was full of generalizations and assumptions about the premise of this thread that have long since been dispensed if you bothered to read any of my posts.
