Is Michael Bisping the worst middleweight champion / worst fighter to win a belt?

The worst middleweight champ ever is Chris Weidman. He got his title shot by beating Mark Munoz (respectable, but on the decline) and Demian Maia in a boring fight that Joe Rogan trashed him over. Seriously, listen to Joe's commentary in that fight; he vicious against both Weidman and Maia.

As champion, Weidman beat three Brazilian fighters who were all in their late thirties and had significant mileage on them by that point. Both of his wins over Anderson were weird, he barely got through Machida in an absolute war, and the version of Vitor he fought was dad-bod Vitor who had just come off of TRT. Rockhold was the first guy he fought that was his age, his size, and on the rise in the division, and Weidman got wrekt.

What has since followed has been a strange and somewhat sad career of him finding odd new ways to get finished in fights. Even though I hope he recovers well from his injury, his career in hindsight is nowhere near what many expected it would be after his first fight with Silva, and if Weidman were to retire today, I think Bisping's career as a whole would look much better in comparison.

Munoz was ranked in the top 3 and he was favored over Weidman and he was supposed to be getting the next title shot with a win over him. What is with people making shit up about MMA before they watched just to shit talk fighters its pathetic.

Considering how hated Bisping was for much of his career, it’s amazing how much of a pass he gets for the truly unbelievable special treatment he got as champ. How the UFC handled him after beating Rockhold was a complete embarrassment to the sport and he was leading the charge himself. First he got to defend against ancient Hendo in what was literally Hendo’s retirement fight. Then they lined up 4-years retired GSP to try to give him a chance to pad his legacy even more and claim to be one of the best of all-time. Obviously other fighters have gotten special treatment in their careers, but that was the single most blatant example of the company trying to artificially prop one fighter up that I have seen. It was a dark moment for the legitimacy of this sport
 
This thread pisses me off, the guy was a Fuking Champions with One eye, winning against some guys that TS listed and he comes here to hate??!!! Dont understand it...
 
I'd prefer not to go down that lane. I just would like to say his championship reign was shameful on all levels and the UFC wasn't helping the situation. The MW division was stacked and we had a MW champion who pretended to be injured a couple of times and then landed himself into two fights who weren't in the top 10 and one of those guys hadn't fought in 4 years.

I am happy he made money and all but as a fan of MMA it sucked. Micheal robbed us

Till was ranked based on beating ranked fighters. Same with Hardy. In any case that's an odd comparison as bisping has a far superior resume and career compared to those guys.
 
Beat Anderson , Rockhold and Hendo... Who all tried to cherry pick him cause one eye... Beat the legit champ.... No interim or made up belt... Asked for and got a huge money fight vs GSP... Now talking UFC, making bank , while we are doing it on the internet...

Yes. Winner of most decisions he should have lost too. Not to mention his commentary is cheeks. We get it bisping, you used to be a fighter.

Maybe? But was he champ? Did he avenge two loses against rockhold and Dan Hendo? Did he beat anderson Silva? Everything he wanted to achieve he did ... one if not the best story in mma.

infact Rockhold might have the claim to be the worst ever middleweight fighter to win the belt. Bisping atleast defended it twice and lost the belt to GOAT

If GSP's the worst MW champ, what does that make the guy GSP choked unconscious to take the belt from? Choked inconscious can't be called a fluke... unlike lucky shot that landed on Luke.

Bisping defended it once, against a 46-year-old that was 3-6 in his last 9. It also happened to be his retirement fight. That was a UFC-engineered title defense and the sad thing is Bisping almost lost
