Is Michael Bisping the worst middleweight champion / worst fighter to win a belt?

Lol not even close.

Stop thinking your most disliked fighters are shit. Every Bisping fight on Sherdog this place said how terrible he was and was going to lose.

Rockhold was going to destroy him again the second time, Dan Henderson was going to H-Bomb him again, Anderson Silva was going in to the matrix, etc. That isn't the worst of it though, they're all elite fighters he beat. Even the likes of Mayhem Miller, Cung Le, Alan Belcher, etc. were all expected to smash Bisping if you listen to Sherbros that can't separate the fighters they like/hate from how good they are.

Think you gotta go back to Jorge Rivera where there were hardly any of these posts. The guys been retired for like 4 and a half years and he still lives so rent free in your heads these posts exist.

Prime vs Prime. he losses to silva, whittaker, romero, israel, weidman, mousasi, jacare, rockhold, hendo, vitor, machida,

Matt Serra man. Bisping is better than Serra.

Then Forrest.

I don't know who the worst fighter to ever win a belt is. Brock Lesnar, perhaps?

The worst middleweight champ ever is Chris Weidman. He got his title shot by beating Mark Munoz (respectable, but on the decline) and Demian Maia in a boring fight that Joe Rogan trashed him over. Seriously, listen to Joe's commentary in that fight; he vicious against both Weidman and Maia.

As champion, Weidman beat three Brazilian fighters who were all in their late thirties and had significant mileage on them by that point. Both of his wins over Anderson were weird, he barely got through Machida in an absolute war, and the version of Vitor he fought was dad-bod Vitor who had just come off of TRT. Rockhold was the first guy he fought that was his age, his size, and on the rise in the division, and Weidman got wrekt.

What has since followed has been a strange and somewhat sad career of him finding odd new ways to get finished in fights. Even though I hope he recovers well from his injury, his career in hindsight is nowhere near what many expected it would be after his first fight with Silva, and if Weidman were to retire today, I think Bisping's career as a whole would look much better in comparison.

Nope. Lost to the worst version of Bisping as a titlist after beating Weidman. Spin it how you want.
So they’ve only had one fight? And Bisping got better or worse? It can’t be both. If Bisping got worse due to age, then so did Rockhold clearly - because he went from beating him with ease to losing in brutal fashion.

They’re about equal. Bisping had one title defense against the oldest person in the division and barely won. Weidman at least got a couple in. And Bisping losses before and after the title are equal to Weidman’s post title skid.

matt serra
vitor belfort
forrest griffin
renan barao
aljamain sterling

all worse than Count Ping

he took a fight on two week's notice and knocked a guy the fuck out with one fucking eye. show the guy some respect.
Vitor Belfort?

STFU noob.

vitor was an insecure steroid cheat
we all know that in a natty fight, bisping would be making vitor his foot slave for 25 mins
Bisping would be sleeping in less than 2 minutes.
Lol at comparing a gatekeeper who was lucky to be a champ due to favouritism given an undeserved shot,to a legend of the sport like Vitor.

Yes, he wasn't even a top 10 fighter in the division. He was a solid gatekeeper

Bispong is the biggest duck in the UFC history of champs. The weakest UFC champ as well. Bispong had to defend his belt against the 45 year old Dan Henderson, who could be argued as winning the fight. Definitely not a good look. Bispong ducked the legit contenders at MW and is a terrible commentator as well. Bispong takes 5 mins to say what a normal human would say in 1 minute.

Bisping has certainly had the worst reign of any champion so far, unless Sterling has anything to say about that.

Couldn’t be further from the truth, Bisping was literally a late replacement for his title shot and fought a guy that showed him utterly no respect. Rockhold was talking up how he was gonna make it on SportsCenter with a spectacular first round finish, he didn’t even think it was possible for him to lose to Bisping and that’s why he did. Then the UFC feeds Bisping 46-year-old Hendo that was 3-6 in his previous 9, who proceeded to bust Bisping’s face up and arguably win that fight. Then Bisping gets finished in his next fight by a long-retired WW with health issues. Weidman dethroned the MW GOAT and defended 3 times. Even with the unceremonious end to his career, his accomplishments put him clearly ahead of Bisping. And it’s not close
