Is Khazmat the most overrated fighter of all time?

Over hyped yes, overrated no.
We'll see how he does with better competition, so far he hasn't proven much.
Seems like this is the reason for confusion/disagreement.
People have mixed up the terms overhyped and overrated. Good point.

We don't know if he is overrated simply because he only has 3 fights in the UFC. His quick finish of Meerschaert was pretty impressive and wouldn't say he's a no name. His next fight with Li is a much stiffer test as far as opponents are concerned.

If he gets past Li...

170 - Have him fight Thompson, RDA or Edwards...doubt Edwards accepts but these 3 don't have a fight booked.
185 - Winner of Till/Brunson or Strickland. Give him a good test.

He definitely has that vibe of being something good and he can go between 170 and 185 if needed or if the right fight presents itself.

Meerschaert had been finished in one minute his previous fight too but no one got excited about that.

Nobody is stopping you from getting excited for that fighter.
Oh no people get excited for new and up coming potentialy great fighters, how stupid...

I'm just saying KOing a guy who had already been KOd in one minute just 3 months before isn't that impressive, especially considering the hype it produced.

Meerschaert should probably not even have been cleared to fight again that quick.

He had alot of hype coming in to that fight demolishing two guys at very short intervals.
Then him knocking out meerschaert in that fashion took it over the top.
Was pretty unusual for a fighter wanting to fight that often, wanting to take any fight ASAP.
People love that attitude. I don't see where he is overhyped tbh.

He is hyped. It's pure based on emotions.
He took 2 fights in a week and Dana hyped him for doing this.
I don't think he has the cardio to maintain his high pace. He doesn't have hard ground and pound.
He js for sure a top 6 fighter. But that has more got to do with the weak ww division.

Lol, his gnp is insane.

I don't think it's based on pure emotions. People who have good MMA knowledge can spot a good prospect.
I guarantee you Usman would rather fight Colby or anyone in the top 10 again, rather than Khamzat.
I think he is that good.

Rickson Gracie by armbar

He's literally only 9-0 and of his 3 no-name wins he has in the UFC, one of the guys doesn't even have a wikipedia

I am not denying that he isn't good or doesn't have potential

But he seems to be unjustifiably more overrated than anyone I seen in recent history. This is worse than the Johnny Walker hype train

We haven't seen him tested, we don't know his gas tank a minute past round 2, etc

take a look at all of his fights, his movement is so good, he has speed and power too
khamzat is overrated because he doesnt have a wikipedia ?! can't say a single bad thing about the way he fights ?
fyi conor and mike tyson have the worst cardio but they still managed to be champions

Hype is real. A bit overboard, but part of it is ironic. He'll fight for the title at some point in his career.

I don't think he beats Usman, but he has the style to give Izzy trouble though.

We don’t really know yet because like you said he hasn’t really fought any one. Maybe he’s underrated by the ones overrating him in your eyes. Or maybe he sucks. We have to see him fight more to know for sure.
Stop being logical. Sherdog wasn't founded on it.

What the actual fuck are you talking about, did you follow the conversation at all? I think you are just chiming in with no context.

His fall from grace was well before covid was even a thing.
He literally didn't even fight in the UFC until COVID was already a thing. What in the fuck are you talking about?

Gomi and CroCop...by far.

Khamzt is a hyped prospect.

Those two legitimatel get mentioned among the GOATS of their weights.

Neither is top 15

It's normal cycle. People hype up prospects all the time when they look good with lower competition. I've seen so many from start to finish and it's definitely not every prospect becomes who people expect. But seeing someone well rounded and dominant are good traits to have. You have to see who chokes in the big fights under that pressure and who thrives.

Yes he is. The guys he have beaten are not very good, John Phillips was like 1-5 in the ufc, Rhys McKee was 0-2 then cut, and GM 3 is a win one lose one kind of guy, maybe top 25 at best.
