One problem with the "let people hit me in the face until they make a mistake and I win" strategy is that it is not sustainable in the long - or even medium - term against halfway decent competition. It's amazing that Jiri's gotten four decent UFC wins out of the strategy, but none of them were easy wins and the cumulative damage he's sustained in those wins is enough even without the losses to Poatan that his decline in the short term - one or two more fights at most before he's a doormat - is at this point a near certainty.
