Is Being a Gangster...

Well the punks I am referring to have made shit tons of money and influence and have committed violent crime in groups.

By definition they are a gangster. They just don't have the class and maturity to hold on to it.

Those are 1% bikers though, not really gangsters per say.

A lot of the gangs here are made up of guys from very wealthy families. They grow up watching scarface and they become obsessed with that life, placing too much emphasis on establishing what they perceive as “respect” amongst their peers. They want to be feared and adored at the same time. Never understood it considering your life span ends at 35 in most

Resorting to the gang lifestyle because you’re born and raised in the ghetto is easier to understand.

I don't understand what the difference between bikers and gangsters is. I mean, they both commit crime in numbers for sake of profit and growth in their own structure.

I've always viewed gangsters in the traditional sense of the mob. But I guess everyone could fit that definition in a loose sense.

True and what I have noticed is, we have a tendency to try and dignify the word "gangster" as in there is some class and honor in it while hood rats are labeled as gangbangers or wannabes.

In a way, the word "gangster" or "gangsta" is also used as a compliment like cool or awesome.

Did TS watch the right show? Pretty sure majority of the gangsters in The Wire ended up in prison or dead. Marlo is like the only one who made it out safely but he can never go back to the game or he's fucked. One of his henchmen is dead and the other is in prison for life.

Also I don't think any of the main gangsters from the first season made it out. They are all either dead or have life sentences.

Is being a gangster hot shit?
I've been watching The Wire and they make it seem super dope.

Like all you gotta do is stand on a corner and shoot some guys every once and a while.
And then when you get arrested even if you killed like five people its only for a couple months.

Then later you get to go to parties where 8's and 9's walk around with their tatas hanging out and hit it out with the guys in the hallway.

So what is this realistic or no?
theres no real gangsters anymore, just criminals. And no, the women aren't hot

I agree with you, I am kind of baffled why you brought John Difonzo. Dude was born in 1928 which is crazy since I was reading about Bruce Lee who was born in 1940s. Point is, I am talking about gangsters of today like 20 to 30 year olds who act like affliction/tap out retards.

Could you honestly believe any old school gangster would pose and act like these guys?

Also, I have heard these dickheads give interviews and they are just full of profanity laced babbling while guys like Gotti and Capone had some meaningful or at least entertaining/witty comments to make.

Sorry, dude, but these images you're showing us aren't modern gangsters, they're street idiots.

Huge difference.

Can you elaborate?

I mean, these guys are known gangsters in Canada and they deal with shit tons of drugs. Their gang is called U.N nation.

Go to bestgore and watch brazilian favela videos and mexican drug wars....

I've had friends involved in that stuff. From what I noticed, the rise was always great. Money, girls, "power", but ultimately it usually reaches a point where you get too successful and either have rivals or the police after you.

If it's rivals, you have to have a unit around you that can protect you (and those can turn on you at any point), if it's the police, it's usually just a matter of time before you're caught. Both mean living a life where you are constantly looking over your shoulder.

Out of the 10+ people I knew involved in that life, only 1 had a happy ending, as he left the country with his money, but even he can't come back and see certain loved ones and friends.

By the way, people asking this question should just look at your Av.

How can you watch The Wire and come away wanting to be anybody but Omar? Guy is one of the most unique badasses ever. Fuck the gangsters. Be the one who was too hard for even the most feared gangsters to deal with.

Also, hard to find glory in the gangster life from watching The Wire when literally 99.9% of the gangsters in that show end up dead or in prison by the end. Marlo himself only slips away from sheer timing and luck, and even he has too much of the gangster life in his blood to ever truly walk away. He'll likely end up dead or incarcerated at some point, just as he said he was content with being all the way back in season 3.

I tried watching the wire but I couldn't. For me black/Hispanic gang/ghetto culture depresses the fuck out of me.

To me the ghetto crime culture is so damn dingy and miserable. Its social culture revolves around lots of trashy behavior, drugs, misery and what have you. If Italian mafia makes me want to be a criminal, shows like wire do an amazing job making me want to not do that at all!

Let me call in my buddies who are experts in gang and gang memorabilia

The gang life isn't all lights, camera, action... it's a lot of hard work and a lot of suffering. I bet most of you couldn't walk 50 miles in my shoes - the stuff I've seen.. the stuff I've been through, most of you soft posters would crack on the first night.

I think lil @Ceez has a new gang nickname for you.
