AMD Ryzen PC Revenue To Decline By 26% In 2022 Due To The Success of Intel’s 12th Gen CPUs, Reports Market Analyst

Article goes on to mention that AMD's sales are predicted to stabilize, and only see a 2% decline thanks to the launch of their upcoming generation in 2023, but desktop shipments as a whole are forecast to drop ~25% in 2023, and Intel is far less dependent on this revenue than AMD due to being so much better diversified.

are you posting from 2016? amd has a broader portfolio than intel.

Remember, Intel is "fucked". Any day now.

the day you posted this, intel's ceo threw a tantrum about not getting govbucks (chips act) and threatened to stall ohio fabs and move to europe. yeah, they're (still) fucked. their gameplan is STILL just begging for taxpayer money/bailouts... and delays/paper launches.

the 5000s are old as fuck now and on a dead(or deadish, rumours support may continue) socket. and yet... they're still somehow leading. this is actually better than most expectations (including mine).

that said, consumer PC isn't anywhere near the top of their focus, it's all hpc.

No it doesn't.

All your sale data except the Amazon screenshot is for a single German retailer. Screenshots for Amazon show only the last 24-hour period, and the only reason AMD has risen back to the top is because they were forced to slash their prices. Intel often posted the top sellers for these cycles over the past six months. Morgan Stanley is assessing overall CPU sales data, and AMD is declining. It isn't comparative, except to last year. Intel resurged with the 12th gen, and their 11th gen sold well itself at slashed prices.

AMD continues to grow, but they're still only in 32% of gamer rigs. As far as server share, AMD processors are still in less than 11% of servers worldwide. They're projected to ship in just 16.3% in 2023. That's an improvement for them, but I'm failing to see how ~84% market share in that hpc segment next year means "Intel is fucked".

Been three years. Bankruptcy any day now, LMFAO.

No it doesn't.

...yeah, 'it does.'

ffs, they bought xilinx and pensando and are in basically every segment now. intel can't even get their dGPUs together or get aurora shipped... how many delays now? vaporware isn't depth.

Bankruptcy any day now, LMFAO.

you laugh, but intel isn't. they already announced negative free cash flow til 2025 - and that was BEFORE 3 more delays/fuck-ups and another round of begging for bailouts. ffs, after patty threatened to take his ball and go home to europe, mcconnell threatened to nuke the chips act, outright. $175M well spent... push-ups and begging.

intel's entire future is either banking on pulling off 2 hail marys in one (20a/18a gaafet [or whatever intel's calling their version of it] AND bs-pdn) - or just begging/getting fucktons of taxpayer money/govt handouts. maybe they pull of the feat and are actually able to compete with tsmc and turn shit around... but it's looking more and more like a moonshot. and tsmc sure as shit doesn't think intel's going to deliver.

called it.

i guess we know why patty g threw a tantrum and pushed so hard for our taxpayer $/bailouts. chips act gets passed by congress... and hours later:

sapphire rapids delayed (again)
datacenter operating income down 90%
dgpu lolz ( @PEB on suicide watch)
net loss q2 (~450M)
still planning on selling off mobileeye (seems like the only thing they have that’s performing and they’re hocking it…)

negative fcf through 2025, margins went to shit, already downscaling their new builds, may have to cut dividend

at thread start, they were worth $260B. now: 145B. the amount they wasted in buybacks, alone, in the last 15 years is now 40% more than the company’s even worth.

Although no formal announcement has been made, written materials published by Intel alongside a new Linux driver confirmed the existence of the processor, which is designed to accelerate AI inference workloads.

According to the documentation, the VPU will feature inside Intel’s 14th Gen Core CPUs (also known as Meteor Lake) and will improve inference performance across “computer vision and deep learning applications”. It is most likely the brainchild of the team behind Movidius, an AI acceleration company acquired by Intel in 2016."

OMG, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

anywayyyyyy, intel just started selling $6B of bonds.

funny due to the big brained detractors here who kept telling me how much money intel has (had). negative money. red q2, negative fcf through 2025, and now selling senior notes. looks like they're taking on debt to keep their dividend afloat. lolz

52 billion sure seems nice an TSMC wants some of that sweet cash.

"
As the US Congress passed an historic $52 billion federal program to boost domestic chipmaking capabilities, it included one significant caveat: Companies that receive the funding have to promise not to increase their production of advanced chips in China.

  • It’s a condition that will certainly add to escalating tensions between Washington and Beijing. The curbs will hit companies like Intel Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., leading chipmakers that have tried to build their businesses in China. TSMC won’t be able to substantially upgrade or expand its existing facilities, effectively losing some growth opportunities in the world’s biggest semiconductor market.

Specifically, the Chips and Science Act bars companies that get federal funding from materially expanding production of chips more advanced than 28-nanometers in China -- or a country of concern like Russia -- for 10 years. While 28-nanometer chips are several generations behind the most cutting-edge semiconductors available now, they are still used in a wide range of products including cars and smartphones. The ban covers both logic and memory chips."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will meet with the chairman of Taiwan’s biggest semiconductor manufacturer during her visit to the island, in a sign of how vital computer chips are to the U.S. economy and national security.

Get the full experience.Choose your plan
Pelosi and the chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Mark Liu, will discuss implementation of the recently passed Chips and Science Act, which provides $52 billion of federal subsidies for domestic chip factories, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss Pelosi’s sensitive schedule.

The meeting, planned for Wednesday Taiwan time, comes as TSMC builds one chip factory in Arizona and considers expanding that project to include additional factories on the same site, one of the people said.

lolz, i don't think pelosi's visit is about the chips act... but if it is, then even more lulz.

weird that intel can't make money and 'everytthing/everyone' is in decline, but yet

It was really hard to find out about Nancy talking to Taiwanese representatives about the Chips act impact to TSML future. Lol first story on a Google search.

"
TAIPEI, Aug 3 (Reuters) - U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the Taiwanese parliament on Wednesday the U.S. chip bill would offer a good opportunity for U.S.-Taiwan cooperation in the chip industry.

Pelosi also said she wants to increase parliamentary exchanges with Taiwan."

anyway, sorry about your loss.

patty begs govts for $
the usa govt apparently goes to taiwan and risks chinese tensions to apparently beg tsmc. man, i guess even pelosi knows how much intel sucks.

What do you mean Pelosi 'begging' TSMC? And what does it have to do with Intel?

ask @PEB , he's the one who mentioned it.

he seems to think it's a gotcha because i'm against the chips act. he's not very smart.

well, it's been 5 days, so i guess that's a "concession."

You must be a special kind of idiot I have a life outside of Sherdog. If you think this does not have everything to do with limiting China's technology engine you truly are an idiot. TSMC, Samsung have entered the 3nm race an Samsung may or may not have gsotten the jump on TSMC. US does not want any of that tech endings up in China. TSMC does business with tons of Chinese companies so dragging down China a big deal.

"
ROME, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Italy is close to clinching a deal initially worth $5 billion with Intel (INTC.O) to build an advanced semiconductor packaging and assembly plant in the country, two sources briefed on discussions told Reuters on Thursday.

Intel's investment in Italy is part of a wider plan announced by the U.S. chipmaker earlier this year to invest $88 billion in building capacity across Europe, which is striving to cut its reliance on Asian chip imports and ease a supply crunch that has curbed output in the region's strategic car sector. read more"
