Point being Pat. moving Intel in the right direction not just buying back stock and relying on just one source for that is under the shadow of potential military action. Nvidia Chairman Jen-Hsun "Jensen" Huang understands the danger of single sourcing critical technology used in other areas then just gaming and crypto mining. Areas such as AI, robotics, military targeting systems, weather prediction, health sciences and hypersonic weapons. None of these areas could not be greatly affected by China or Russia military actions. But unfortunately we still have people who think the world has not changed possibly for good like yourself. I want my CEO to understand the significance of these changes. I think recently even Elon Musk may have had a change of heart at building his next gigafactory in China given the current state of the world today. He was in Germany for the opening of the Gigafactory Berlin and made no mention of the building of a new factory in China....and poaching a couple engineers will surely fix that!

no, he's running a con now and trying to scam the government. he's making lofty promises that he knows are bullshit. hopes and dreams can't fill the shells. part of the problem he inherited, sure (intel should have been buying euv all along). but that doesn't excuse the con game. intel factually doesn't have the amount of euv needed for these 'plans' and they factually can't get them outside some sort of crazy acts of god. asml is backlogged for years.
as for the anti-taiwan fud - lolwut? they're ordering more than ever from tsmc because of pat. so... this isn't just bullshit, it's hypocritical bullshit. by your logic, this is patty's (as in, specific to him and not just intel) problem.
and lolz @ "potential" military action - i mean, it's been the status quo for 70 years and never happened and never mattered before... but now, for no apparent reason, it's supposed to be some huge problematic fud.
yeah, ok.
additionally, perhaps you're too ignorant to know this... but the days of using different fab companies for the same 'chip' are dead. and looooooooong gone. it's a bad model and basically can't work. at best, they'd be diversifying parts (eg, a die from intel [like how amd uses glofo] ). so it's moot, because they'd STILL need tsmc (or whomever). chains can't be diversified the way you seem to believe...
the euv numbers illustrates the problem. by eoy 2023, the amount of euv by company is an estimated:
tsmc 133
samsung 55
intel 20
even if we omit the fact that intel's fabbing has been/is much lower quality than tsmc's... they can't just take over production when they don't even have the equipment. they'll have ~10% of the euv machines. how the fuck are they supposed to be filling the usa's orders for the good of the world/from evil axis/whatever bullshit narrative when they have 1/7th the capacity of not even taiwan... but just tsmc?
it's a con. perhaps you bought into it hook, line, and sinker (or perhaps you're just a wumao that reallllllllllllllllllllllllly hates taiwan)... but pretty fiction is still just fiction.
Now you admit that Intel actually has EUV machines
they will be the first company to receive the first High NA machine allowing for building chips under 3nm.
you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. the usa can't dictate shit regarding asml. and the usa already owes asml a favor for cutting china off. There are some concern that the US could stop shipping needed technology to ASML
US is the only one in the world that can manufacture such technology
wat
they're made in the netherlands, genius.
Nice way to pick out a quote without the rest of the comment: US makes the lenses and the optical positioning hardware and German company Zeiss SMT makes the mirror not the lens. The mirror is the smoothest surface in the world and if you would stretch out the 1 or 2 foot mirror to the size of a city the largest bump on it would be a milometer in height. I imagine this mirror is used to focus the light source to a specific points on the surface of the silicon wafer. This design is not something anyone can put together and this limits this to only one or two companies on the planet and ASML works with both as a system integrator. There is no other way when dealing with such fine pitch to use anything even remotely less would be a failure....you just said "US is the only one in the world that can manufacture such technology"
and now you're blathering about machines literally manufactured in the netherlands... and yes, with zeiss lenses.
how 'merican!
@PEB congrats, you went fuller retard.

You are truly a special kind of stupid are you not? They get their stuff from 3rd parties in the US an Germany. They aquired one US manufacturer of key parts of the over 100,000 partsasml uses zeiss lenses... or technically, "optics systems." which yes, contain mirrors.
congrats, you found a way to go fullerer retard. i hope that's fullest.
lolz @ the amount of irrelevant bullshit and backpedaling and taiwan fud to end up here. for whatever fucking reason.

Try to build anything related to EUV without the parts US and German provide troll. This is fun I love countering your nonsense a few times a day.ERMAHGERHD
you said they're manufactured in the usa. they're factually manufactured in the netherlands. now you're bitching about PARTS made in germany.
none of this has anything to do with literally anything.

Don't do it Nvidia Intel's dying according to Rob Mafia.

Rivals Nvidia and Intel Might Join Forces To End Chip Shortage
Nvidia and Intel may come together to manufacture more chips as shortages persists.
"
But economics doesn't typically work like that. In the words of renowned British economist Charles Robbins, "Humans want what they can't have."
Abundance and scarcity are two sides of the same coin. Societies typically deal with scarcity by increasing supply.
And if there's one thing that's dominated news headlines when it comes to scarcity its chips or semiconductors."
"Makers of semiconductors or chip manufacturers have been grappling with the impact of global supply chain shortages that have led to a dearth of chips that are used in everything from cars to home appliances for nearly two years."
"
Everyone from automakers like Ford (F) - Get Ford Motor Company Report and General Motors (GM) - Get General Motors Company Report, one of the hardest-hit sectors due to these chip shortages to tech companies like Apple (AAPL) - Get Apple Inc. Report, which has started producing its own chips, to semiconductor giants; are trying to find ways around this conundrum.
And Nvidia (NVDA) - Get NVIDIA Corporation Report the largest chip company in America by market value is open to exploring a deal with rival chipmaker Intel (INTC) - Get Intel Corporation Report as it seeks to expand and diversify its supply base."
I predict Samsung, IBM and Globalfoundries could join it.

"Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said he wants to diversify his company’s suppliers as much as possible and will consider working with Intel. Nvidia currently uses Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Samsung Electronics Co to build its products."
"
We’re very open-minded to considering Intel,” Huang said Wednesday in an online company event. “Foundry discussions take a long time. It’s not just about desire. We’re not buying milk here.”
Intel jumped to a session high on the news. CEO Pat Gelsinger announced last year that the chipmaker, once the world’s technical leader, would seek to construct new factories and manufacture products for others, even rivals.
Huang said Intel’s effort to compete with the two Asian companies as a foundry operator will require more than building plants, it will have to fundamentally change its culture and operations.
“Being a foundry at the caliber of TSMC is not for the faint-hearted,” he added. “TSMC dances with the operations of 300 companies worldwide.”
Intel will need to learn to attune itself to the way that customers want to work, which hasn’t been part of the company’s experience as it makes chips of its own design, Huang said. Nonetheless, moving into the business of being an outsource manufacturer is something that Intel has to do, he said."

i hope that helps with the GPU shortages. ive been meaning for a GPU upgrade but i'm just gonna stay with my 2080 for now cause i aint about to sell a kidney just to pay some scalper with their outrageous prices for a the specific model of a 3080 ti that i'm after. fucking scalpers, and miners, and whatever else is causing this.
