Intel is the national lab for chips, Intel doesn't need the government. The government, indeed America, needs Intel.

I doubt they would run to the feds for help but I wouldn't even blink at throwing them a few billion if it would at all assist in speeding up the process of fixing these manufacturing issues.

Nobody else is having this problem, but TSMC and Samsung are the only other corporations in the world manufacturing 7 nanometer technology node chips, that's the thing. For perspective on how advanced that is, the industry standard is actually 28 nm (lol). Intel hasn't ever released many details about its 7 nm process but the rumor is they went too hyperaggressive with their transistor density targets, supposedly something like 250 million transistors per square millimeter.

Yeah, kind of an admirable fail IMO. It's not like they've completely lost their shit and are about to go under or anything. It's a manufacturing process setback, and one that I imagine they'll recover from. TSMC's 5 nm node will be good for density of 173 million transistors per square millimeter.

Nah, V-2 was one of mine. I'm rather transparent about my history on here and don't exactly blend in very well upon return. Every single Sherdog ban hammer thrown down on me has been centered around (my) homosexuality, in one way or another. I'm kind of glad the V-2 handle got booty blasted because of course, some people thought I was a Nazi but I'm just really into space exploration is all, and that rocket opened the frontier to the space age.

I'm a little confused about it though because it feels a lot leaner; lacking the depth of analysis and information that is usually included. The National Science Board releases its Science & Engineering Indicators report every two years.

And on a final note, RE multiple bans: I'm neither stupid nor malicious, just arrogant, reckless and silly at times. I never get axed for hateful content towards other posters or groups of people. I am/was all three of those handles, no relation to Legicato at all and I don't have a clue who he is (or previously was) aside from being mean-spirited with a strong internet armor exterior in 90% of his posts, like 90% of right-wing posters here. Yeah, that's why this thread has "Redux" in the title and the reason for the part of the OP below. I was speaking in third person, because this subject is one I brought up and discussed in the War Room with a relentless passion. NoDak avi is also me albeit at 10 years old lol.

The barrier to entry really is that high. Smug @NoDak was right, other Sherdoggers were wrong and he forgives them.
