fuck man, i don't mean to laugh at the shit but..., fuck. This is not an isolated incident either. I was formerly the manager of a mill and it was unbelievable on a much larger scale. They’d all lie and make totally fake resumes. They believe they can scam their way into jobs they have zero qualifications for. Some of them would even send the exact same resume between 3-4 of them with names changed. It’s insanity.
A lot of places pretty much discard any Indians’ resumes now which sucks for the good ones but yeah. They’ll even find crooked companies and buy their journeyman certification in various trades but they’re so dumb, they don’t realize you actually have to know the trade to do it. They pretty much dominate the trucking industry with license buying but it’s not as obvious to as many people there when they aren’t capable. Show up at a mill as a journeyman millwright who can’t turn a wrench and you’ll be gone before first break.
The fields I see them in a lot down here in the states are driving, either rideshare, delivery or trucking or the 7-11's/ am-pm's etc.., and I am aware that many of them work at places like Microsoft but of course those types of professions as well as the medical professions are not as visible as the ones most of us see them at. I also see a lot of Indian restaurants where they work.
My east Indian pal I had to try, repeat, try, to teach him to drive. He claimed he knew how to drive so I figured he'd be just needing a little help. Within five minutes it was clear as day that he'd never been behind a wheel in his life, or if he had, it wasn't much. After some close calls and near wrecks I had to give up. But, he did go on to learn to drive well enough to do it for uber/lyft and now he makes boque money driving a city bus. But he definitely wasn't upfront about driving and even today he'll try to say that "I only needed to know how to drive american" which I just don't press him on, I don't know if he's delusional or thinks i'm stupid but he says things like that, when I chastise the Indian actors on tv for whitening their skin, he will insist that they don't use any lighteners and that they are really that pale, i don't push it but it's like a little kid lying when he does that. Strange guy, at some point, i suppose we all have to overlook each others shortcomings.
But, he did manage to have the perserverance to go through a lot of failure and rejection (he failed the driving tests at least 4 times but he acts like he forgets that now) to get to that well paying job, kinda admirable.
