In what world does Khalil Rountree deserve a title shot?

I was saying before this announcement how I wanted to see this matchup. Rountree throws with bad intentions just like Pereira. He also beat Jacoby and Saki, so he sort of matches up well with kickboxers. He's on a 5 fight win streak and 34 so it's his last shot probably. LHW is sort of a mess after you rule out Ankalaev.

I’d say being 10-0-1 (1) in your current unbeaten streak wherein you have twice as many ranked wins all of which were ranked as high or higher than your counterpart completely negates their 5-0 streak with less ranked and lower ranked wins. I wouldn’t call that remotely the same level but that’s just me.
i think with how pissed off Dana was after that title fight, he and the matchmakers are not too enthused about getting Ank into another title fight.
is it deserved? not really. the fight wasn't that bad. but Ank didn't really show the urgency that would've gotten him the decision. or even a late finish. he seemed to coast - which is what Dana and co. cant stand more than anything. that may have been how he got subbed by Craig in the last few seconds of their fight.

he also has gone back and forth, saying he wants Abu Dhabi, then saying he wants Poatan anywhere any time. makes me think the UFC view him as fickle.

there's also some asteriks in that unbeaten streak. the NC vs Walker and that debacle vs Cutelaba where they stopped the fight too early and he had to fight him again - thats 1 win that shouldn't be on his record.
lets see what happens vs Rakic.

After Jan fight he cried and said he will never fight in the US anymore and has been pushing for UAE only fights.

He KO'd Walker in Vegas in January for a POTN bonus.

On the off chance the facts may actually matter to you - there's one.

What now?

I see people try to reference the ufc rankings, like it’s some legitimate thing

I don't know, but seeing Jamahal Hill be as mad as he is makes me think they're onto something

I like Rountree, but I agree -- no way he deserves this title shot. He isn't the least likely to win either, so we could potentially see him as champ. I heavily favor Pereira, but I feel that with regard to power, if Izzy can knock out Poatan, Khalil probably can.

I'm going to find a way to add the following statement to my clipboard permanently:

UFC is NOT a logical, honorable, merit-based sport; it is sports entertainment.

Constantly expecting the company who has continuously and brazenly acted against what hardcore fans want to suddenly be sensible and honorable is insanity. I'm a big fan of both Alex and Khalil so I'm looking forward to this fight. :)
