I’ve seen where he was pushing for the fight in Abu Dhabi but I have not seen that he refused to fight anywhere else. As you said, turned down 300 because of Ramadan, but have not seen where he’s supposedly been offered and rejected it since.

You can't pull out of a fight you didn't accept. They gave three other Muslim fighters an offer and they all refused because it was Ramadan. The UFC shouldn't have asked in the first place, the only Muslim fighter willing to fight during Ramadan is Belal. It's very difficult to do so.

Neither of them have losses in the span of these wins. You cannot objectively say Rountree deserves it more. Ankalaev also has the the only ranked win Rountree has. He has higher ranked wins both at the time of fights and currently. I actually really like Rountree but this is unjustifiable, anybody that wants integrity in the sport should be against this.

Right, Ankalaev is the only guy other than Alex in the post-Jon Jones era who has fought for the LHW belt without losing it.
If you fight an existing champion to a draw you automatically get a title shot rematch.
Highest ranked LHW that Alex hasn't already fought and toughest stylistic matchup for Alex. It should be Ank next.

i agree Ank should get the next shot - but it is what it is. if he beats Rakic then they basically have to give it to him. no guarantee he gets past Rakic by the way.

Even if you're going with the "They're protecting him from grapplers" line, why not book Rakic or Volkan? Those guys average less than 1 TD per fight. They're ranked higher than Khalil.
