He demolished Usman in round 1 before he injured his hand, then still won a decision.

He won a war vs Burns in his first real step up in competition, at WW, the same weightclass Strickland, Dricus, and Robert were finished by lesser opponents.
That didn't stop any of them from beating bigger opponents as MWs.

People talk about his cardio as if he's Kimbo Slice or Michel Pereira, when most fighters have never had a fight as frantically paced as the Burns fight, where he won round 3.

The split decision against Strickland wasn't something one should call easy in any way if one wants to be taken seriously. It wasn't bad judges either as media and fans were quite divided on the winner as well. I have DDP as the favorite against Chimaev but that doesn't excuse such a bad call.

Yeh, the split against Strickland was a close fight, but still easy enough to score 3-2, I thought. And it's not like DDP was getting hurt or anything.

Even if Khamzat has great cardio, which I think he does and sherdog sort of created a narrative of 1 round of gas, later it goes on if DDP survives, his takedowns won't have the same explosive athleticism and probably only be more technical. Will be interesting to see how it goes later on.

Against Burns he didn't want the smoke on the ground and against Usman he was injured after the 1st round. We've never seen how his takedowns are later on besides grappling events and they looked fine. I think Khamzat wins and he won't be like 5th round Whittaker after the 1st, but DDP has the heart to drag it to the deep end. Fight will probably show how to beat the guy a little more. But with Khamzat he can finish early and we'll have to try again.

Strickland himself said he would be willing to fight Chimaev "knowing he would die".....definitely sounds like someone who wasn't getting obliterated in training by the dude on the regular.....

Let's not forget DDP actually lost that first fight as well. He's from the same ilk as Strickland, same level of fighter.

He also demolished Rob Whittaker like not many have done, particularly in a grappling sense. He's quite good at this MMA thing I think.

And looked awful and completely beatable in doing so, against smaller and less skilled fighters than DDP. His previous performances certainly don't suggest that he'll have an easy time with DDP.
