I wouldn't be surprised. Keep in mind that he is a pioneer for Spanish MMA and Spain is a sporting powerhouse. The gap is so ridiculously big, it would be absolutely incredible if he could even get to 15 million for an MMA fighter.
And I can add that Ilia is very smart for saying he is a Real Madrid fan, cause fans are kind of retarded. They make edits on instagram, tiktok with Real Madrid and Ilia together, hashtags Ilia, Real etc and things keep spreading.
My brother is a Real Madrid fan, and I mocked him after they lost to Barca the same time UFC 308 and he goes " Atleast we won one last night". We, as in "Madridstas" the fans, because Ilia is one. So im very certain alot of Ilias followers are NOT mma fans, but Real Madrid fans. Maybe they do become fans, but alot of them just see Ramos hang out with him, that he likes Real Madrid and is an athlete, famous. And boom, follow.
I stopped reading when you called Conor an amazing actor. He's terrible. I'm sure Illia will get roles in the future as well and probably do a better job. It couldn't be much worse.Maybe Ilia can keep winning and eventually become bigger than Jon or Adesanya in social media followers. But he would need to become a massive Icon, part time amazing actor, and also a platinum selling artist to even sniff the level of someone like Conor lol. This is assuming he will stay active and have the right dancing partners, which is always the hard part.
The gap is so ridiculously big, it would be absolutely incredible if he could even get to 15 million for an MMA fighter. Today there are over 2 billion users on Instagram, when Conor was getting big in 2015, there was roughly half a billion. So even with 4X the amount of potential exposure for fighters today, and an all-time great talent in Ilia, he is still severely behind and has virtually zero chance of getting to 25 million, let alone catching Conor.
The thing about Conor is the losses actually helped him, the two Diaz fights are some of the most intense and popular fights of all time. The loss to Mayweather was a blessing, he got to fight against arguably the greatest PPV seller of all time (of all the combat PPV's ever sold, Mayweather was involved in 4 of the top 5). The Khabib fight brought about a whole new eastern demographic that we'd never seen before.
The only reason Khabib even has 30 million followers is BECAUSE HE FOUGHT CONOR, before that fight he had around 6-7 million followers with zero title defenses! He was at the right place at the right time when Conor was away from the sport, he capitalized and just so happened to be one of the top 15 MMA fighters of all time. Khabib was lucky enough to get the rub from Conor but also Mayweather as well, two of the top selling fighters ever. Anyone from that period remembers the talk about a Khabib vs Mayweather boxing fight, Khabib was able to get himself into those conversations due to the sheer timing of the whole ordeal.
Must all be Spanish and Georgians.
Topuria has Georgia, Spain and soon to be the casuals behind him.
I blame Tom from myspace.Shameful and embarrassing that grown up men even notice let alone care about social media accounts and numbers.
Someone brought this up before, but an analysis was done on which ufc fighters were buying ghost IG followers and Ilia came out on top lol. I have no doubt that his new followers are genuine, but I’m also pretty sure Ilia was buying followers at a crazy pace before. And it fits with his “I’ll be a star no matter what” attitude. You have to admire the guys determination, but he’s not the star he’s being made out to be. He could become that eventually but hasn’t been yet.During UFC 308 meaning the last few weeks, during the build up, during the actual card and after he won and ko'd max

That's pretty impressive if you ask me, he is gaining a lot of popularity
WHat do u think?
and still 100000000x better than Fartbook.I once grabbed my girl’s phone to see what ig is all about and god was in insufferable. Reel after reel, shitty music, ai, shooped bodies. Bunch of 16 year old groupies who jumped on the bandwagon.
I miss these seasons of this show. Time to rewatch.
