If You Think Khamzat's Stock Dropped Tonight..

It was one of those wins that keeps the hype train going, but doesn't add too much.

Like when DC beat the piss out of Pat Cummins, but if Cummins wasn't a bum.

He has Conor level cardio.

If someone can survive the first round against him in a 5 round fight then he will be seriously tested. If last night's fight went 5 rounds then Usman wins by decision or maybe even a TKO late in the 4th or in the 5th.

If the company and fans wanna hype him as an absolute killer then of course he's gonna be judged more harshly. When he's hyped as this killer who steamrolls everyone in short order then that's kind of what people are gonna expect to see from him.

People are marveling at how much he dominated Usman in the first round, but forgetting that this is a seriously shopworn Usman with used up knees and a possible injury going into this fight.

The man ALSO took a completely different and more dangerous opponent on 12 days notice. I'm sure his initial gameplay was completely scrapped and they had to come up with something on the fly. For him to overcome that and win is pretty impressive. You guys think because Usman has dropped his last 2, he is old, shot and was never your friend. He was beating Leon in the first fight until the Hail Mary kick. And is arguably the welterweight goat. So give Khamzat some credit. If you expected Usman to be a walk in the park, your IQ is around room temperature.
A couple things:

Khamzat had an opponent change, but his strategy has never varied based on his opponents, and he still had a full camp.

It was Usman's first fight at MW, he most certainly has shot knees, and he came in on short notice with no camp. These are inarguable facts. To claim khamzat didn't have a massive advantage on paper is disingenuous.

Don't ever call Usman the WW GOAT again. That's just straight up disrespectful to GSP, and a thinly veiled attempt to fluff this win up for kamzat.

Look, it was a good win. The domination in the first round was extremely impressive against a wrestler of Usman's caliber. It is hard to look at this the same as if they both had full camps and were fighting at 170 though. Usman got paid to take this fight on short notice, and khamzat was fully expected to win, just based on all the variables at play, by literally everybody.

Struggled?

He spent the entire first round backpacking the fuck out of Usman when Usman was at full stamina.

He didn't get cut. Took no damage. Wasn't knocked down or stumbled. Literally at no point in this fight was Khamzat ever in jeopardy or under threat of a finish.

Where did he struggle?

Khamzat barely scraped a majority decision and was getting tagged at will by short notice Usman

Talked a big game how he is going to kill everybody and instead just looked like Fitch

Full Camp 5 round Usman beats him with ease

When you act like you're immortal but show that you are, in fact, just mortal.

Then people can/will doubt your immortality.

Khamzat earned a tough W against a game former Welterweight champ.

However, with his performance, you can expect all the lions, tigers, bears to smell the scent of blood in the air.

The wolf isn't the only hunter in this world.
People said this after the Burns fight and the man still hasn't lost

Him blowing his load and tiring out is an issue and something he needs to work on. Can u imagine him in a 4th or 5th round when he was already slowing down and struggling at the start of 2nd
Call "Hims"

Scraped by? The dude 10-8'd fresh Usman.

Tagged at will? Bro he had 11 more significant strikes combined over the last two rounds (ignoring the 10-8).

The hyperbole is out of control on this fight.

I’m not seeing the hype with Khamzat. He’s a great fighter and possible champion in the future but he struggled greatly with Burns and Usman, no shame in that, but with Usman being a short notice replacement and debuting at MW I expected a more convincing win than that. He’s not the monster that sherdog makes him out to be. Is he one of the best MWs? Absolutely. Did Usman impress me more than Khamzat? Absolutely.
Usman impressed you more than Khamzat? Usman didn t do anything in that fight.

Funny how the goalposts went from Khamzat is going to wipe the floor with Usman earlier this week to hey he dominated him in grappling in one round (and got outstruck the rest of the way) against a guy with less than 2 week prep time.

Come up with something on the fly?
Dude fought like he always do, explosion upon explosion in rd1 and then survive for the remaining rounds.

When’s he going to “smesh” someone again? Maybe when he fights again in another year?

i mean i get what you're saying but he did just try to take down the guy with the best TDD in the history of the sport and it ended up being what won him the fight so i dunno

Khamzat's stock did not drop, but I don't think it went up much either.

The idea that he deserves a MW title shot next is still fucking ridiculous.

This. He might beat Strickland with his wrestling, but his power is not there at 185 striking, so he's not going to be able to bully the top guys the way he did at 170.
