Economy If Trump suceeds in getting other countries to get rid of their tariffs against the US, would he become one of the GOAT presidents?

It's simple. Stock Markets are super important when the Dems are in office, but they're irrelevant when the Republicans are in chair. If stocks drop when a Democrat is in office, the president is incompetent. If they drop when a Republican is in office, "why do you care so much bro?"

Tariffs are paid by the exporting country, even though they are actually paid by the importing company. That importing company should just eat the tariffs and not raise prices for stuff like cars, because we all know that companies don't really care about profits. But what the dictionary thinks of as tariffs aren't really tariffs. Tariffs are actually calculated by looking at trade deficits, so if the US buys more from a country than that country buys from the US, then that country actually has tariffs on the US. It's not because they're poor, or export a ton of valuable resources, or even because the US doesn't make anything they want, it's because they're so much more clever than the US in the ways of trade, and have tricked America.

Everybody is going to come begging to the king to reduce their tariffs, except they don't actually know that tariffs are trade deficits, so when they say they won't have any tariffs, Trump will go "Ha! Give me 300 Billion to get rid of my reciprocol tariffs", which they will totally do and then the US will have a golden age, and everybody will live happily ever after. Well, except for minorities and the gays. They go to El Salvador.
I think this sums it up quite well.

As long as it's applied to both sides. I don't seem to recall Democrats lighting their hair on fire, when the stock market took a big shit under Biden either. It was a mere "correction".

In terms of what's currently happening his post hit the nail on the head imo. I tend to judge things on their own merit, but what specifically would like me to shit on the democrats about? I have never in my life seen anything like this from a president or an administration as a whole.

That's not year over year that's YTD.

Regardless the left had a huge outrage boner on Monday that they got blue balls from cuz the market didn't crash. Today we're up another 7 or 8% so extra blue balls

Europe offered zero for zero tariffs and Trump said no, Trump doesn't wants to negotiate.
Only on manufactured goods nothing else. He's not going to take that deal

It wasnt the left that was outraged or appalled

It was people that saw their investments, retirement, HSA and 529s completely tank

Getting everything he wants to benefit America? Of course it would be a big win.. I still disagree with the way he did it though in reality. Ruining relationships and shattering trust. There had to be a way to get it done without ruining your international relations. It's going to come at a cost if it does come.

I mean they could start unfairly taxing our goods and making it harder to…oh wait

Still down YTD.

My God. Tell me you know nothing about how markets and more importantly, the economy, work... without actually saying it.

You fucktards sat on your lips while the economy was in the tank for 3+ years under Biden... and made nothing but excuses for that dementia patient the entire time. My god... Jack could have been his Press Secretary.

Where is Jack? Kind of disappeared shortly after the election. Might need a welfare check.

You're right who needs allies and wealth when we can get wealth while telling our allies to go F themselves... that is the strategy apparently? lol

Weird that you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about then post an image of the DOW showing a 40% gain during Biden's term. And somehow that is shit? lmao

DOW was at 31,000 when Biden took office and 44,000 when he left.

Your bias is showing.

Maybe they did - I just know that in 4 years when Trump is gone, we are both going to be here, and it is better to have good relations even with trade disputes. I am not even against the trade policy in theory, just with the methods and how he is trying to bully it in to happen and expedite things to an uncomfortable degree.. is it because he is almost 79 and in his final term?

Yeah but Belgium just send an entire billion dollars to ukraine. That'll fund three whole days of fighting

Dow Jones just recorded its largest increase in a day ever. How do we spin this as bad news?

Biden didn’t unnecessarily torch the stock market by unilaterally implementing a bizarre economic policy that most businesses and investors believed would tank the global economy, then abruptly change course with no explanation.

This is like someone robbing you of all your wealth, giving it back to you the next day and saying “you should celebrate me, you’ve never made as much money as you did today!” The fact that we have such a capricious and wishy washy president who turns on a dime from one policy to the next is objectively bad for the economy. No country or entity will want to invest for the next year at least, a serious economic contraction is already baked in for the rest of the year thanks to these BS tariffs head fake.
