Islam's entire game is based around scaring you with his ground, if it ain't scary then he doesn't really have shit. he could KO JDM, sure, but how likely would that be? he's stiff and robotic on the feet, someone like JDM should feast on him in a straight up striking fight. if he didn't i would criticize

And he hurts people in striking exchanges who are seemingly much better on the feet, even during exchanges when there is not an immediate take-down threat or intention.

People have much more of a problem with who is winning then how. JDM is never going to catch as much shit as Islam no matter what, same as DDP can turn in a world class terrible belt defense and barely a whisper about how unprepared he was.

If JDM could defend the takedowns, or at least get back to his feet easy peasy, it would be a completely different game. Without the takedown and ground threat I can't imagine how Islam could neutralize Jack on the feet. Yeah, Islam has a solid kicking game, but doesn't have the striking skillset to make it, or win, a boring kickboxing match. It would be impressive if he somehow managed to do that though.
