If Chimaev only fight till the age of 34 that's about only 4 - 6 fights left in him.

It make sense why Chimaev coach and Chimaev himself wants to move up and have a superfight asap.

He doesn't have much fights left in his career. I doubt he fights for a long time past 34.

So he only has a very limited fights left. Who would you want to see his last fights be?

Depending what you think how many fights is left in him.

My guess it's only 4 - 6 fights or so.

Don't have specific names in MW, but I think he should defend the belt twice and than move up and fight the LHW belt.

I doubt he can move down and fight for the belt at 170.

If he stays healthy i dont see a reason why he wouldnt fight 2 times a year. The guy seems to enjoy fighting and he was very active until his health issues. 2 times a year for another 3-4 years is what i would hope for. I dont think his style ages well.

Doesn't matter who he blankets, you only see half of the other guy anyway.
Maybe ablack guy would be best, the contrast would make it easier for the people in the stadium to figure out whose limbs are where on the floor.

If he keeps winning, the UFC will let him do pretty much what he likes, as he is one of the top names they have. As long as he vacates the belt, he can move wherever he wants.

True, but he only has limited amount of fights. So he has to make the most of it kind of thing. Maximize his legacy and his profitability.

I've heard that he wants to cash in now when he's more free to travel again with his UAE passport.
Could probably fight 3 times a year, but all depending on how dominant he's gonna be in fights. At worst twice a year then.

You're right in that he's not like Tony Ferguson or Shogun though, going on forever despite their performances.
I could see 7-8 fights before he's done, which is likely to be around age 34.

learn how to do math bro. It would be 8 fights.

There is no way chimaev will be fighting once a year

I feel like the oil fucks always want him to fight there and Dana always bends to their wishes which makes them put him on a shelf often until that card comes around.

In my humble opinion, he should try to fight at least twice a year and keep at MW. Maybe he wouldn’t reach Silva’s streak, but it would be close. Of course, he doesn’t fight twice a year (maybe now he will) and he will surely move up and probably soon. They all think that a second belt means more then defending in the current division. Plus, the UFC is not objecting. Sucks for us old fans, but these superfights sell. I fully expect that at some point fighters will assume you can move up after 1-2 defenses and make even more money. Khamzat will certainly do, preventing some health issues. But if he goes to LHW, going to WW afterwards will be almost impossible. If he wants to accomplish his “3 belts” dream, he should try WW asap. I have a feeling the UFC will allow it if the option presents itself, despite the egregious weight miss vs Diaz.

Good posts, thanks.

For bigger names, it isn't encouraged at all to take risks and be active. And there's no reward either.

Paddy Pimblett has averaged 1 fight a year for the last 4 years and the UFC was trying to get him the easiest path to the title with a Gaethje fight but Gaethje said he's holding out for a title shot. And now the narrative was they were just gonna launch Paddy right into a title shot.

This sport is in terrible shape right now.

Since his primary game relies extremely heavy on wrestling there's some validity to this.

All Borz' other health problemz aside, the kneez & joints of wrestlers take an absolute beating. We see lots of OG wrestlers lose a step much earlier than striking heavy fighters for that reason. Unless they transition to a more striking heavy approach like DC did, who all but abandoned his wrestling completely at the end.

I remember DC talking about how he was going to outwrestling Stipe prefight in one or both of his last 2 fights that he ended up losing. It waz very profound when he didn't even attempt it.

imo... He could've been more successful vs. Jones had he used his wrestling more, but in hindsite, I don't think he had it in him. Cardio comes to mind, but it was also about the wear & tear on the wrestlers legs. They all get it.

Both Jon & Stipe have wrestling creds & so it's arguable that could make a difference, but DC could've added that to his game & chose not to. Likely because he couldn't.

1 fight per year, retires at 35-36, so 4-5 fights left for Khamzat.

Damn yo.
We got some believing in Santa Claus naive motherfuckers up in here.

2-3x a year. <{outtahere}>
