If Charles beats Islam, is he the new LW Goat?

Well, GOAT mean greatest of all time, you know that, right ? At whatever weight class. "Greatest", the word means nothing if you lost 9 times while mentally quitting on guys you should have been able to beat if you were supposed to be that great.

Well the thread's about LW GOAT. Might want to read that part.

Btw, 2013 Frankie would've also spanked 2013 Khabib. Yet here you are holding that against Charles.

On 24 hours notice because tony fergusson tripped on a freaking cable. Does context and facts

So you agree, he beat a part-time fighter and full-time real estate agent for the belt, yeah?

I dunno about GOAT. He lost too many times.
THE most exciting fighter in LW history, maybe yeah.
I believe it would be great for the division if Charles takes it back, many interesting matchups to follow
This kind of thinking doesn’t make any sense to me. Even if our day to day life’s we stumble, lose everything and bounce back and be the best you know you can. Michael Jordan, Djokovic, Barry Bonds, Serena, Phelps these athletes are considered GOATS in their respective sports. They have all lost soo many times during their careers, does that make them GOATS? You aren’t defined by your loses but your wins and Oliviera has learnt from his early career to become a better fighter now.

Bendo winning fights with a toothpick in his mouth and his long ass hair unbraided and constantly in his eyes still perplexes me.

I was waiting for someone to attack when he was tucking it behind his ears! I think only Pettis ever did, with a body kick.

Sure if your GOAT criteria includes having a hand ful of setbacks, defeats and bad nights

So you would have prefered Khabib pull out of the fight as well ? The shit you would say about him...

You mean like Fedor, Anderson, Aldo, Cruz, MM, Nunes, Val, and Joanna who all have multiple losses?

Guess they can't be GOATs.

We're in 2023 not 2013, this is irrelevant. Youl always talk so much shit without thinking about it.

No. Charles is a good fighter, but he is no GOAT. He would have to win the belt back and be dominant for a few more years to be in the conversation for me.

Here we ago again, hopefully, Islam takes care of him, his fans are annoying. <mma3>

There's no way you can look at Charles and look at Khabib and conclude anything other than Khabib's degree of dominance/mastery over his peers was significantly higher than Charles. It's not like Charles was undefeated and almost untouched through his first 29 fights/multiple title defenses. and *then* lost, got battered some, etc....his journey has been much more nonlinear and complicated.

Charles is amazing...but there are levels.

That's actually a great argument.

Straw man. I didn't say that. That's your own insecurities about that coming through.

Al had no business being in a title fight. Give Khabib an interim belt and on to the next fight.

Seriously, your posts are cringe as fuck dude. Straw mans, non sequiturs, what ifs, conjecture, etc...

Come up with a big boy argument.

I can't believe we're still having this tired fucking discussion.
Charles may have the most quality wins of any lightweight of all-time, but does that cancel out all the bad losses? All NINE of them?
To me, it does not.
He's Dan Henderson. Insane schedule, numerous incredible wins, but too many head-scratching losses to be the GOAT.
Let's just call him the most DANGEROUS lightweight of all-time and be done with it.
He's capable of beating anyone, but has failed to do that a LOT of times.

What the hell do Charles' FW losses have to do with his status as potential LW GOAT?

Furthermore, but what do Khabib's WW wins have to do with his own status as potential LW GOAT?

You guys do know what LW means, right?
He got finished by Jim Miller, Paul Felder, Islam and Cerrone at LW

Actually just the opposite is true- you are taking 2 people that finished like opponents and trying to rationalize one being on another level. Charles even finished them more quickly ("there are facts"). They are on the same level. It is guys like Dariush, Justin and Dustin that are not on the same level. We will continue this conversation after the fight.
Lol nice way to twist it but no, GSP and Jones didn't finish a lot of his opponents and they are the 2 top goats.
