If Charles beats Islam, is he the new LW Goat?

Well what matters first and foremost is that he's not going to beat Islam
Hey, he could, and I want islam to win, but Charles may win, it’s a possibility. If Islam beats Charles again then one more guy he will be lightweight goat I think

The Caucasus Clan meltdown would be funny to watch.
it'd just be like watching the mirror image meltdown Caucasus Clan haters have been posting since Islams win over Oliveira.
Like making posts like this for example.

IMO, yes. The greats are defined by the challenges they faced and overcame.
The consensus great in boxing is Muhammad Ali, despite fighters like Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather, Lennox Lewis, etc... being undefeated.
Greatness is being punching bag and getting parkinson lmao

Wow, such an accurate post.

You mean like Fedor, Anderson, Aldo, Cruz, MM, Nunes, Val, and Joanna who all have multiple losses?

Guess they can't be GOATs.
Multiple loses in their primes?

Their reigns at the top were a lot longer and they were champs for years. Charles’s prime wasn’t as dominant as their’s. Those guys are the undisputed best of their divisions for extended periods. Charles pretty much was never considered the undisputed best guy in the division.

IF he beats Islam, I think it firmly puts him in 2nd, he would need to defend a few times to pass Khabib, ya Khabib only had 3 defenses, but he never got scratched or cut in any of his fights which is insane especially considering he destroyed good fighters ala Justin, Dustin, RDA, etc. not even a fan of Khabib but thats greatness right there

Yes. Nobody’s fought more times and against the all of the best. Title defences mean nothing if he’s fought and beaten all the contenders already.

Charles: 22 UFC wins. Notable: Dariush, Garthje, Poirier, Chandler, Ferguson, Lee, Miller, Guida, Stephens

Khabib: 13 UFC wins. Notable: Garthje, Poirier, McGregor, Barboza, MJ, RDA
Miller & Guida wasn't even ranked when Oliveira beat them & if you're going to add them to Oliveira's notable wins at the very least you could add Pat Healey & Iaquinta on Khabibs resume, atleast they were in the top 15 when Khabib fought them.

"Khabib never fought tough match ups". That's because he WAS the touch match up.

Oliveira needs to beat Islam twice to be considered GOAT, the way Islam beat him from standing to the grappling, Oliveira would need to either dominate Islam from start to finish and end it, other than IMO he's going to need to beat him twice.

Sure but if he loses he’s always been a can quitter who was never that good

His record is 34-9. How is that “much better” than Khabib’s 29-0? If a fighter wins, he’s the GOAT but if he loses it doesn’t count? Or does it only work with fighters you like?
Charles has won 12 of his last 13 fights.

Sure, he lost some earlier in his career. He made it to the UFC at a young age and was fighting tougher opponents off the rip than Khabib and Islam did.

So what if Charles has some losses? He has improved since then and has gone on an amazing run.

It doesn't matter if Charles had 100 losses. He went on an epic streak, won the title, has a better resume than Khabib, has a lot more fights than Khabib.

Khabib wouldn't be undefeated if he had the same path as Charles!

9 loses soon to be 10 is better than a undefeated fighter, that mauled everyone while chatting to dana. Sherdog is funny.
