Social ICE/deportation protests and riots megathread

What? Are suggesting a member of congress can't propose an amendment?
Well, you had me worried there for a second lol. Proposing an amendment is one thing, but it falls to the states- the people- to actually make it happen. It's the bedrock check on our government.

Yeah, it has no chance in hell in passing.

You think there aren’t systems that can check your criminal history in other countries?
I couldn't even get married in The Netherlands because they're so inept. I'd still be there if they tried to investigate my criminal history. What dealings have you had with Dutch government?

Well see this gets at the heart of the problem with the challenge going on re: birthright citizenship. It's not just that it's being challenged, but rather the power the SC would be assuming in facilitating the challenge. It's one thing when the language of the Constitution is vague; that's why we have an SC. But birthright citizenship is crystal clear. In order to change it, they have to invent or imagine new language that doesn't exist. It would be the SC -in essence- taking the power to change the plain text of the constitution.

What I know is that the United States can check people’s criminal history even from another country, and I also know during the Biden administration people were let in and released without proper vetting. People were even released without being verified by name.

I believe they are challenging based on the "subject to the jurisdiction" part. Arguing that children don't count because the parents aren't fully in the jurisdiction.

I really can't speak for The Netherlands, like I said, they're shoddy as all fuck, but without incriminating anyone I know of Brits where they wouldn't be here if they looked into them.

Unless you have diplomatic immunity, everyone in the US is subject to our jurisdiction. If they weren't, then they wouldn't be subject to the law. Unless someone is arguing people should be subject to the law but not have any of the rights, in which case we arrive at the reason we needed this amendment in the first place.

Not answering my question.
I couldn't find a direct answer, but with all that info it does suggest that quotas would have been at least comparable and similar protocols were followed. With nothing to suggest the contrary I am inclined to believe it is so.

The people who despised Obama would have been all over it if they were all masked. Come on.

Wearing of masks is not a new thing with ERO.
So Obama's ICE were all wearing them? This is the point I was making. The refusing to show ID, plain clothes and masks. Was that all going on under Obama too?

Which is an insane interpretation. The 14th Amendment gave citizenship to all ex-slaves, which would have been impossible under that logic since slaves (and their parents) were not citizens prior to the 14th Amendment.

Flat earth level stupidity mixed with pure malice.

Well, if Fox News or whoever the anti-Obama crowd was watching at the time put a lot of resources into stirring up a story out of it, yeah I agree they would be haters who took the bait hook, line, and sinker.

Yes, don’t have to identify to anyone but the person being arrested and yes these are plain clothes operations. ERO doesn’t have a uniform. It’s much more publicized now and the reason it’s seems like more is because it is. The administration has tasked agents and officers from multiple federal agencies to assist with the apprehension of criminal aliens. There are FBI, HSI, DEA, US Marshals, Border Patrol agents, Customs Officers, IRS, ATF.
