Intriguing for what ? He's an Ecuadorian who trains in Tijuana. Makhachev is one of the best MMA grapplers currently, like top 3 MMA grapplers in the world. Just cause morales can punch doesn't mean he won't be a fish out of water once Islam takes him down. You guy are delusional.

I see that you’re not getting any likes on these comments about Morales, but I believe that you’re correct. He’s very big and athletic, and seems hard to take down. But once he’s there, it’s a big question mark. Brady wasn’t even close, but Islam is a whole nudder’ thing. I’m not saying that Morales is defenseless on the ground, but we just haven’t seen enough to know.

I definitely want Shavkat to get his much deserved title shot but the thing that concerns me is ring rust. I don't want him to come back and immediately fight the toughest guy in the division right out of the gate after having been off for a year with injury (over a year by the time he fights again). I feel like a warm up would be a smarter choice. Prates is a tough but winnable fight. If he can shrug off the rust and take out Prates (or someone similar) then absolutely set him up with Islam next. But to go straight to Islam is crazy.

Yes. Many are clamoring for Shavvy, but god damn, he has been on the bench for long time. Reinjured himself after surgery.

I haven't seen any specific Morales grappling prowess or any grappling of his that stands out for the matter but please prove me wrong.

I don't care if he's next but I'd feel a lot better about it he wasn't winning decisions by the skin of his teeth. A highly evasive champion doesn't sound very appealing to me either. I want to see the best beating their opponents unquestionably, not merely surviving self defense contests.

I'm honestly ok with Usman. He had a good showing against Buckley and held his own against Khamzat. He still got it.

I think stylistically the best fight we could see is Islam vs Shavkhat, but ring rust is real. As it stands, this is what I'd like to see from the division:

Islam vs Morales
Shavkhat vs Usman
JDM vs Prates
Belal vs Colby
Edwards vs Burns
Rodriguez vs Bonfim
Brady vs Neal
Garry can keep busy against Buckley

Edit- i switched the order of fights for Buckley in my head and thought he rebounded against Colby after losing to Usman. Not the other way around. Let Garry fight Rodriguez or Bonfim and Buckley fights the other

Usman’s shot now, but he’d still give Islam a tougher fight than Morales, due to his wrestling. He still doesn’t deserve a ts if we are being fair. One more win though and I don’t see any problem.
