I just watched Star Wars for the first time.

To be honest, you could skip the entire prequel series and not miss much. OT worked fine years ago on it's own, it still works now.

You only miss out on some origin stories, and maybe handfull of decent scenes and fights. But overall, the OT is a story that works without the prequels.

Machete order, problem solved. You can comlpletely skip Ep. 1 and not really miss any important plot points.

IV, V, II, III, VI

Luke's Journey, flash back to Anakin's, then the finale (until the new ones come out). Ep. I can be watched later as sort of an 'origin' story, or not at all.

Eugh.

Machete Order makes the series worse (I've tried it, more than once). It's like watching The Lord Of The Rings by watching the first half of The Two Towers, then all of Fellowship, jump right into the first half of Return of the King, and then the second half of Towers and then end with the second half of ROTK.

Or watching the Harry Potter movies: 4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 1, 7

I prefer my order of watching them.

It goes

1,2,3,4,5,6

1-Only watch scenes with Liam Neeson and the Darth Maul fight.
2- Only watch scenes with Obi Won and Sam Jackson.

Then just watch the rest.

My brother is one of those huge fans, and he says that episode 3 is the best, although it's hip to prefer the older films (I'm embarrassed to even type this because I'm a PRIDE "fanboy."). He is fair, though, and I think he prefers 5 and 4 next.

Episode 3 is cool but the scene between Anakin, Padme and Obi Wan is pretty cringeworthy to me. It's saved a bit by Ewan actually knowing how to act but in general, pretty bad.

Fawk the haters. My body is so fawkin ready for episode 7 faaaawk!

The phantom menace was the best of the 6 films.

People shit on it because of their decades of building up expectations.

They focus on all the bad parts, as if the first 3 didn't have bad parts too.

Darth Maul is the best villain ever. He makes the whole movie.

The action of Phantom was really fun. But the story was crap overall. The third has the highest reviews of the three.

Someone made an edit that combined all three prequels into a solid non-stop action movie.

With the new movie and game coming out, I decided to immerse myself in the universe of Star Wars.

I watched them in the order that they were made and not in the order that they were numbered.

Episodes 4 and 5 were great. 6 was ok.

Then I went and started on episode 1 and had to quit watching within the first 10-15 minutes. Should I go on? Is it even worth it anymore? I had invested a lot of interest and felt somewhat of an attachment to the series, but now it's just not there anymore.

I can't explain the feeling.

Continue. Episode 1 has a few moments, but it's the worst of the series by far. 2 and 3 are tolerable. 7 will likely be good, so you might as well get the backstory. Good for you that you started with 4, or you may have given up right away.

So 10 minutes of Phantom Menace and 50 minutes each of the other 2?

Never repeat what you just said and have this thread deleted ASAP bro.

The originals were amazing and a part of my childhood that I look back on fondly.

The "newer" ones, while I enjoyed Episode I as I saw it when I was still only 9 years old when it came out in theaters, were... really disappointing. I tried going back and watching them a few months ago, couldn't finish Episode I.

Although the Lightsaber duel in Episode I is, probably one of the greatest cinematic fight scenes I've ever seen. Best part of the movie. Episode II and III were terrible.

Honestly if you weren't mid-childhood when either the trilogies came out I couldn't imagine why you'd care to catch up on them. They're not extremely long movies so finish what you started I guess. Nothing sacred here I promise.

are people fucking serious in this thread that Attack of the Clones is better than Return of the Jedi?

have you been huffing paint for the last 15 years?

seriously...?

I actually think Attack of the Clones is the worst of the 6, with 1 next and then a big gap to number 3 and 6 and another big gap to 4 and 5.
