I feel bad for former WEC Champs

Faber will be remembered as one of the best midget fighters to ever do it.

Brian Bowles crashed hard man. Lost to George Roop at UFC 160, then dissappeared into the sunset..

He got robbed in one of the worst decisions in 2011 to Demetrious Johnson. He shouldve been fighting Dom for the BW title, the two BW GOATs at the time.

True story. He got robbed in that fight and man that Torres-Cruz fight would have been a real classic.

I'm not missing the point. Champion for a long time? He was champion for two years until he got beat by Mike Brown. When did I dismiss that he won the championship belt? The only thing I'm refuting is that Faber was the best in the world and that being a WEC champion means you were the best in the world. I don't agree. No one under 155 owes Faber any money, or owes him anything. Lots of fighters have evolved at his age, Cruz, Overeem, Frankie, Bisping are the ones off the top of my head. Fighters thinking they are the best in the world is different than giving an argument as to why they're the best in the world. Unless you're the champion you don't even have the right to say you're the best in the world. Winning a championship belt in a lower organization only gives you the opportunity to compete with better fighters.
If WEC is considered a lower organization, which one is considered higher?

No, actually I refuted your statement about these people being called "world" champions. You can repeat as many times as you like that the weight classes were new and WEC was the only game in town. Still doesn't mean these individuals were the best in the world. No, anyone who won a WEC was not considered the best in the world just because the WEC was the only organization that existed for lighter weight classes. I already did refute what you said, you just keep harping on and on about the WEC being the only organization around when I never said otherwise. Remember this guy named Frankie Edgar, where was he at when Faber was in the WEC? You can go away now.

Dear Lord, are you seriously whining because I'm not immediately responding to a nobody on the internet? How insecure are you?

Edgar was a lightweight, case closed. You lost this argument. the WEC was not the lowest organization. IT WAS THE NUMBER 1 PROMOTION FOR BANTAMWEIGHTS AND FEATHERWEIGHTS, THE BEST 135 and 145 WERE IN THE WEC CAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY PROMOTION THAT HAD THAT WEIGHT CLASS. THEREFORE WHO EVER WON THE DIVISIONS BELT WAS THE WORLD CHAMPION. HOW ARE YOU THIS RETARDED???

I feel bad for some of those guys who did become the best 145'ers/135'ers in the world at one point but will never be given the distinction of being an all time great due to not having a "UFC" title in their resume

Be glad you're not a Shooto fan. It's that feeling magnified.

Is like Football. Some players are very good when they're playing for smaller clubs, once a big club buys them, they don't do anything. There might be some sports psychology about it to explain why it happens. is sad to see their hype falling apart because they can't take the next step.

Torres will go down in history as one of the biggest can crushers in the history of the sport behind the great Travis Fulton himself. No need to feel bad for him aside from him getting knocked out in 35 seconds fighting in senior high school gyms at this point.

he had something like 40 fights before he lost to brian bowles
IIRC, he was 37-1 going into that fight, and supposedly had a ton of unsanctioned fights in Hammond that don't show up on his record. I used to live down the street from his gym and knew several students who all had heard that.

You do know the belts held by McGregor and Cruz right now are direct descendants from the WEC championships, right?

This. WEC had top tier talent at 135 and 145 but there were many Shooto and Pancrase fighters who had not yet made the transition to MMA at the time that would later be considered Bantamweight and Featherweight legends. Kid Yamamoto, Hatsu Hioki, and Marlon Sandro all come to mind as fighters who never fought in the WEC but most likely would have been top contenders and/or champions.

You are correct, i cannot remember the amount of fights rumored that dont show up on his record, so for argument sake ill say 100 lol

maybe u are on the hook of a troll and u dont realize it... sad

Hard to say someone was a "world champ" when they get smoked by Dominick Cruz. You feel bad? None of the guys you mentioned were the best 145/135 at any point during the history of combat sports. Faber had multiple shots at a title, couldn't do it, but you think he was a world champ? Torres went on a ridiculous string of losses after lots of people thinking he was the next big thing. Wineland? Can't put a string of wins together. Bowles? Brah...

Just because you're a newb doesn't mean you have to parade it in front of the world.

Frankie Edgar fought at 155 before dropping down. If they weren't best in the world, can you tell me who were?

You just answered your own question.

I don't recall the length but if 2 years is right, and that's "not long" in your opinion to hold an Mma title then we are on different pages. Have a good day man and good convo.

You said two years was a long time when compared with other champions two years isn't that long of a time. GSP, Barao, Aldo, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Demetrius Johnson, Tito Ortiz, Dominick Cruz, and Ronda Rousey far surpass 2 years with a belt. Also take your passive-aggressive nonsense and shove it up your loose butthole.

If WEC is considered a lower organization, which one is considered higher?

This question has already been answered.

Edgar is not a natural 155er, right? So while Faber was killing himself to make weight in WEC Edgar was destroying people at 155, right? In a better organization, right? With stiffer competition, right? You can go away now because you have no idea what you're talking about, at all. Oh, they're world champions because WEC says so? Pfff, get over yourself.

Just because you're a newb doesn't mean you have to parade it in front of the world.

Oh boy, another adult loser with their identity attached to a web forum.

Faber was like a mini-Fedor. He was impressive for years. Definitely could have gone to 135 considering he only started losing to tanks like Brown and Barao.
