I feel bad for former WEC Champs

Being the number 2 guy for a long time. Do you have any idea how talented you've got to be in order to do that. He is just maybe the best fighter to never win a Ufc title.

hendo and FEDOR were way MORE accomplished AND BETTER than Faber IMO.

Bisping is a UFC champion, old man Hendo has never been good enough to touch that belt...... facts are facts :p lol
Hey Bisping is my favorite 185er, but winning the pride belts and beating fedor and nog (forgot which one tbh) is very prestiges. Hendo is better than his record suggests.

WEC had world-class fighters who would have been UFC champs if the UFC had those divisions then. I've been cheering the former WEC lightweights since the merger - Henderson, Pettis, Cerrone (ha, and Varner). Faber was - and still is - a handful for anyone, but Aldo came along at featherweight and had his number, and some great competition emerged at bantamweight.

Hendo held 2 belts simultaneously in Pride, as well as held belts in other organizations. His career is legit at LEAST 2x good as Bisping. Bisping spent 10 years as a guy who couldn't even hack it enough to get a title shot. Hell, HE ONLY got this one because another fighter pulled out and the next contender in line was HURT. Not taking anything away, he won (I picked n bet on him to win) but, you're out of your mind if you think Bisping's career is anywhere near as good as Henderson's.

Guys like Wineland, Faber, Bowles, Torres, etc...who will never be seen as One of the all time greats because they never won a UFC Title

Yet they were all World Champs at a time where the WEC was the top promotion for the lighter guys. It was the UFC for the Bantamweights, Featherweights...etc.

I don't hold the same belief for the WEC LW Belt, because the UFC LW division already existed and was the premiere organzation.

I feel bad for some of those guys who did become the best 145'ers/135'ers in the world at one point but will never be given the distinction of being an all time great due to not having a "UFC" title in their resume

I consider Faber an all time great. Torres as well. Even if nobody even remembers him anymore.

People who think the UFC is the be-all end-all of the sport are dumb.

Also remember that James "the curse" Irvin was also a wec champion

I didn't see too much of Torres fighting, I thought he was pretty young coming into the UFC?

Torres at one point was considered #1 P4P GOAT. People were comparing him to Fedor. Sure, it was just for a very brief time, but he was legit good. Just didn't have it to really keep the fight up. As someone mentioned, his schedule probably caught up with him. The dude fought like four times a year and back in his earlier days he had like 8 fights a year.

And he was pretty much undefeated all that time (except for 1 fight) -- that kind of record puts pressure on you more than a guy who wins and loses alternately.

Doesn't count for anyone who won a belt above 145, because those divisions already existed in the UFC...which was the #1 Organization. The 135,145 DIV in WEC were the premiere organizations though where the Champ was the legit best 135/145'er in the world

Add Kid Yamamoto to that list. Gomi is close. They were japanese fighters, but Yamamoto fell hard.

Kid had injuries. So did Cruz, but Kid didn't quite recover and he had that conflict thing with being an Olympian going on. Still, not saying he's as good as Cruz or any of the other greats at his tiny weight class.

Torres hit the wall harder then any fighter I can remember.

He got robbed in one of the worst decisions in 2011 to Demetrious Johnson. He shouldve been fighting Dom for the BW title, the two BW GOATs at the time.

Real fans know what's up, fighters know what's up.

Condit had as many title defenses as Torres, and never went to a decision in a title defense. Torres went to a decision in his defense against Takeya Mizugaki. Only reason Condit didn't hold on to the title is because the higher weight class divisions in the WEC were absorbed into the UFC, which already had a champion.

I remembering being torn at the time. I really wanted the UFC to give Condit and auto title shot but I was worried he wasn't ready at the time.

he wasn't that old but he had an insane amount of fights and he was never the same after that BRUTAL knockout loss to Brian Bowles

was very tentative and lacking self-confidence after that but he was one of my favorite fighters at the time and I still think he beat demetrious johnson

I miss Brian Bowles, dude was exciting to watch, beat some of the top dogs prior to meeting Cruz.
Does anyone know if he's serving prison sentence or just gave up fighting?
