Guys like Wineland, Faber, Bowles, Torres, etc...who will never be seen as One of the all time greats because they never won a UFC Title

Yet they were all World Champs at a time where the WEC was the top promotion for the lighter guys. It was the UFC for the Bantamweights, Featherweights...etc.

I don't hold the same belief for the WEC LW Belt, because the UFC LW division already existed and was the premiere organzation.

I feel bad for some of those guys who did become the best 145'ers/135'ers in the world at one point but will never be given the distinction of being an all time great due to not having a "UFC" title in their resume

Buy Fight Pass, watch some good old WEC action and put some respek on their names ya fucking goofs

I think Faber will go down as an all time great.

Torres tarnished his legacy by fighting way passed his prime. Much like how Roy Jones Jr. is doing. If RJJ retired after beating Ruiz, he would be in discussion as GOAT.

Faber and Torres were the only two really dominant champions of the WEC.

Especially Faber but Torres as well will be seen as alltime greats for anyone who has followed the sport. Bowles and Eddie were great BWs as well

True, but even if you just looked at Fabers Ufc accomplishments, he is still one of the best ever.

The ufc wants to downplay the importance of the wec titles,so as not to confuse the new fanbase. But you and all of us know what they are worth.

I didn't see too much of Torres fighting, I thought he was pretty young coming into the UFC?

Condit had as many title defenses as Torres, and never went to a decision in a title defense. Torres went to a decision in his defense against Takeya Mizugaki. Only reason Condit didn't hold on to the title is because the higher weight class divisions in the WEC were absorbed into the UFC, which already had a champion.

Nah, I think he was already in his 30s. He just has that Ralph Macchio look where they always look way younger than they are.

Torres hit the wall harder then any fighter I can remember.

what UFC accomplishments?
Being the number 2 guy for a long time. Do you have any idea how talented you've got to be in order to do that. He is just maybe the best fighter to never win a Ufc title.

He had a lot of fight miles on him prior to his first fight in the UFC. Still fairly young, but may have been worn down by over a decade of pro fights.

being the number 2 guy? he is not the number 2 guy in either division. it was Barao and now its TJ. Frankly Faber is nothing more than a gatekeeper in the UFC.... same as Dan Henderson. Legendary careers but the casual fan will always view them as just not good enough

lol as a Bisping fan I took great pride adding Hendo to that lol :p

Who cares about the casual fan in this discussion. And lol helax man, hendo is way more accomplished than Bisping overall.

Bisping is a UFC champion, old man Hendo has never been good enough to touch that belt...... facts are facts :p lol

WEC for bantamweight and featherweight was definitely the premiere league, but it still was something like the UFC's women divisions today. Torres was a really good fighter, but he was simply the first really good fighter to distinguish himself in the division.
