I can't understand why Aldo is always in GOAT lists and Adesanya doens't

Yoel and brunson aren't good wrestlers?

If they aren't whittaker never beat one either. neither did strickland, neither did poatan, neither did weidman.....
Yoel was 40... and shot zero takedown attempts.... Brunson also decided to be a brawler and has the fight iq of a gold fish... and no Poatan never beat a decent wrestler.... Weidman beat Munoz and Maia

The best grappler Strickland beat is jack hermanson right?

wouldn't call maia a wrestler, I'd say munoz = brunson

Bwahahaha
izzy was 23-0 at MW before taking a loss to Alex. He had 8 ranked wins before losing his title and then avenging his loss. and he did that in 3 years.

only in his last fight did he lose a non title fight

What a horrible take.... you have to care about the actual skills.... Cormier would make Izzy look like a joke in there. Izzy fought zero good wrestlers in their prime ever... zero... Izzys win over whittaker was his best win and the rematch was razer close...

Izzy didn't lose when he was 38 like Anderson....
Skills have nothing to do with GOAT lists. Accolades do.

And DC's accolades have gigantic asterisks besides them from never really being the best LHW or HW. I can't take anybody seriously who pretends DC is top 10. His entire LHW accolades come down to Jon not being around after beating him 2x, using the LHW belt he shouldn't even have to get a double champ shot, and then running from rematching Stipe who also then beats him 2x when DC doesn't poke his eye out.

DC's 1-4 against the actual #1 fighters from his divisions. The man was undoubtedly a good fighter, but he's really just a flash in the pan champion who was in reality truly the #2 guy. He got some lucky circumstances that mostly have nothing to do with his actual fighting ability where he wasn't the best guy.

Izzy might lose to DC if they'd fought, but Izzy actually was the best MW. And for a long time. DC much more truly resembles someone like Whittaker than Izzy where, skilled though he may be, there was someone better.

izzy faced mostly strikers
and romero whos a wrestler that wont wrestle because of his gastank

aldo fought all kinds of fighters and he proved he was still the best
against the elite strikers Aldo got smashed

In what fucking world Ricardo Lamas, Kenny Floryan, Mark Hommenick, midget Faber and Edgard (coming from two defeats by Benson) are best competition than Romero, Poatan, Whittaker, prime Costa, Jared, Gastelu

Aldo had ony two finishes in 8 title wins, he was a UD fighter. And was smashed 3 times in his peak when the level division increased
Why do you call Edgar “Edgard”? At first I assumed it was a typo but you’ve done it multiple times in this thread.

Aldo’s best wins are Chad TKZ and Kenny that’s it

Mark Hommnick was a scrub who almost finished Aldo and never won a fight after Aldo IMG_1729.pngIMG_1730.jpeg

Izzy is still too young in this era to be in the goat contender list...maybe in 5-10 years we will say he was the 185 pounders goat...if the next generation don't do better...

These guys are the #1 in their division and have the sustained duration of time with the target on their back, usually 5+ years on top.

So If someday a fighter overcome GSP as #1 in WW division GSP will have to leave the top tier? Doesn't makes a sense

I dont know.. but Izzy fall was way steeper than Jose. Somehow Jose was competitive at a very high level until the end of his career.

Izzy being dominated by Strickland and finished by Imavov and Dricus it is either because:
* He declined overnight at like 33 years old
* He was never that good (and never Danas friend of course)
Aldo being KOed in 13 seconds in a title fight was worse than any Israel loss after Poatan rivality. Such a historic loss when he was only 28 yr old

You must be relatively new to mma.

McGregor did not beat Aldo in his prime. Aldo had been through several wars, fighting professionally for almost 15 years, and was in a motorcycle accident that fucked up his neck and back a few years before he fought.

Not to take anything away from Conor, but it's pretty apparent that you became a fan of mma after Aldo's prime was over - which is why you just can't understand why people rate him so highly.
Aldo was 28 yr but wasn't in his prime lol
It's funny how easy is build a narrative where a certain fighter was invincible at his peak. if he lost it wasn't because the other was better but because he wasn't the same anymore lol

No man, I watched Aldo debut in UFC against Homnick. I was a Pride fan, I'm just not nostalgic

No, he was not in his prime.

You think someone's age just magically erases 5 round camps for every fight, wars, and motorcycle accidents? Do you even understand the toll it takes having to train for a 5 rd championship fight virtually every single fight, for years on end?

Conor broke his leg and never even bothered fighting again - Aldo pressed on for many years past his prime and still remained competitive - despite really bad back, neck, and foot problems.

I don't know what to tell you guy. If you can't appreciate what Aldo did in the sport of MMA, then you certainly have a right to your opinion, but it really comes across like you don't really understand the sport with much nuance
