Had 50k in savings a few months back ...then I got a new paved driveway.....and a new fence.....and new hardiplank siding and down to 14. Hopefully a decent tax return and the wife's bonus will get us headed back in the right direction.

Tip. What I do even when I have the cash for something I charge it on a credit card that gives me money back to purchases I make (Amazon and American Express both do that and more). That way since I have to spend the money anyway, at least I get something in return even if it's a small amount it adds up. Just don't let the charging get out of control is the tricky part for many people.

Not a lot really. I pay a good sum of each check into a retirement plan and my wife recently stopped working full time. We're adjusting to that and had a few disasters last year that sort of fucked us a little. We had to replace our roof, our furnace broke down and our car needed fairly serious repairs and all this shit happened at once. It ate up most of our savings and we still haven't really recovered.

No trouble paying the bills or anything but we have like no cushion in the bank if something bad happens right now.

I don't understand what you mean with money back.

anyway I always buy on credit card, I use my gas MasterCard and I get a discount on gas the next month and build credit.

i hardly carry any cash on me, most of my wealth is with my investment portfolio with a financial firm, however i do have around 15-20% of my investments in cash form just in case, also have a pretty good amount in the bank
