Media How Merab Dvalishvili HUMBLED Umar Nurmagomedov

There’s no doubt Umar got humbled in that fight, I don’t think anyone can disagree there but I’d say Merab vs Umar was a lot more competitive than Pereira vs Ankalaev. I mean outside of defending takedowns what exactly did Pereira do?

Alex took 2 rounds on two of the scorecards, same as Leon did and same as Umor did, while one judge only gave them one round.

To say that Alex and Leon got emasculated and humiliated while Umor had a great performance but lost, as a certain group claims, is just purely ridiculous and biased.

I didn’t say any of those things.. my point was it’s pretty foolish to pretend like the scorecards being similar means all those fights played out exactly the same. I don’t see how you can seriously believe Pereira vs Ankalaev was as competitive as Merab vs Umar.

I mean there’s a reason why one of those fights is regarded as one of the best of the year thus far while the other is barely ever mentioned.

Lol yeah, there's a reason Umar is the one who really wants the rematch, and Merab wants a rematch with everybody but Umar, and tried to avoid the first fight until he found out Umar had a broken hand and wouldn't have time for a full camp, and was still less than a minute away from from losing until he landed a punch a TD in the last minute to steal the round.

Well done Merab. I rescind my comments from before the fight claiming Umar was ready. Merab was levels above him.

It's funny ank squeaks a decision and he dominated Alex. Merab wins more clearly and he barely won. Some of the dagi logic is baffling to me
Durrrrr

Ank nearly KOed Alex, and Alex threw like 20 punches all fight.

Meanwhile Nurmagomedov broke his hand by punching Merab so much, and had him hurt as well.

Logic lmao?

This was just and insane fight. I thought Umar was going to get him and started strong, but the end of the second you could see the momentum shift, round three it had swung. Then Merab's ability to pour it on in the 4th and 5th was terrifying and impressive. Would have preferred to see this rematch instead of the O'Malley one.
Oh yeah. Umar was way more deserving of a rematch, would’ve been cool to see him fight Yan to earn it back. Would’ve never thought one of my favorite fights would have Merab involved but they really brought it out of each other.

I'm guessing you picked Umar to win.

Blah blah blah.

Merab schooled him, and looked like he wasn't even trying.

Fight was extremely close. Merab damn near lost his title that night while laughing his head off.

Umar won the first 2 rounds. A single mess up, mistake, taken surrendered, or random knockdown and Umar could have won the belt during those final 3 rounds.

How ppl can try to claim that Merab dominated him is baffling to me, although for what it’s worth, it was a humbling experience for Umar.
To be honest the fifth round was close and Umar at one point was landing more. And then Merab just started steamrolling him in the second half of the round.

Lol, Merab got outstruck by a guy with a broken hand and needed 30 TD attempts to get a total of 2 minutes of "control time" against a guy with a short camp who gassed halfway through the fight. <lol>

umar can only fight for 10 mins before he becomes a gassed punching bag <lol>

Unsure how you "humble " a guy when yoi lose first 2 rds and then win a close decision. Merab clearly won 3-2 but it was a close fight . I think Merab if not on slide wins a 2nd fight more clearly as the aura from Umar will be gone so.ewhat but that first fight wasnt a humbling. Khabob v Conor was a humbling this wasnt

This is the most silly thread i have seen on sherdog.. Humble how? by beating him only by 1 point.. This was an absolute war and extremely close fight where Umar shout down Merab wrestling.

If you want to create about humbling someone let there be absolute schooling, finishes and outclassing someone..

Example RDR destroying Nickal, Khabib destroying Conor, Jon Jones running thru Gane these are the kind of fights befitting of such title.. Or Izzy committing genocide on Paulo Costa.

It´s like saying Jon Jones humbled Gus in their first fight? That was an absolute war and Jones probably won by 1 point.. It would be redundant

Having the same last name as Khabib won't make him invincible.

Having the same last name as Khabib won't make him invincible.

Nobody is invincible but he was not humbled that is for sure which makes this thread joke and out of reality. He lost in a very close fight by like 1 point could have swing´ed both ways.

Besides this fight was so close that a trilogy is guaraanteed this two gentlemen are not done. They had such a great close fight that this is just probably the first of many bouts between them which is always the case with such close fights.. I could easily see this being the 1st of 3 fights if not even 4
