Media How Merab Dvalishvili HUMBLED Umar Nurmagomedov

This was just and insane fight. I thought Umar was going to get him and started strong, but the end of the second you could see the momentum shift, round three it had swung. Then Merab's ability to pour it on in the 4th and 5th was terrifying and impressive. Would have preferred to see this rematch instead of the O'Malley one.

How good it was to see one of those arrogant, hypocritical, bullying, falsely humble Dagestani MMA fighters being humiliated.
You need to go there 3,4 years so we can forget.

jfc @ dagestani haters when they latch on to a decision win where Umar only lost by a point in a decision on two scorecards and did better than Yan, Cejudo, Aldo and O'Malley even though he's not even 30 yet.

Umar will be champ. By the time he fights Merab again Merab will be 36.

oh, so Umar is only the best in the world once the actual best ages out? lmao. Umar heff gud cardio? we heff to check dis.

you better start praying to Allah that O'Malley can't connect on Umar. say what you want about him, but he'd sleep Umar if he catches him clean.

Umar won 1 and 2.
Two judges gave Umar round 1, and one judge gave Merab round 1. It was close, it certainly wasn't a slam dunk round for Umar.

I think Umar won the last minute of that round pretty convincingly, but Merab had some good moments overall in that round. There was one punch that looked like Umar got dropped, or he slipped, but either way that's hard to tell in real time with no replay.

I honestly haven't re-watched the fight yet so my opinion is lightly held but I remember thinking the same thing. Umar early, then Merab took over with cardio and a combination of experience and raw will.

Fans aren't clamoring to see this again and Umar didn't have much of a mandate as #1 contender, so I don't mind we aren't getting an immediate rematch.

Its been 5+ months and Umar doesn't have a fight yet and Yan has a frankly bizarre booking against #13 McGhee. I wonder if Umar is injured?

it was not a dominant win for Merab, it was a close decision for him and Umar had his excuse by continuing to fight with a broken hand.
even it was a close fight I would also give it to Merab.a win is a win but haters here try to make this fight look like humiliation, but is was not. not even close

lol sherdog

First loss ever vs the undisputed champ and it was 48-47

"HUMBLED" + "humiliated!!"

You can hate a region or a fighter or whatever but why reveal yourself to be an idiot online?
Umar and Merab are from the same region

All 3 fights (Belol-Edwards, Anklajev-Pereira and Merab-Umor) have the same scorecard result, yet for the bathtub brigade Belol and Ank emasculated and humiliated their opponents while Merab only won a super close decision which could have gone either way….

And its still them who cry in this thread because someone wrote Umor got humbled and they even brought up religion as reason why anybody would not love to suck off Umer or his brethens.

It was humbling because Merab was getting made out to be a lamb to the slaughter.

If Umar is a tenth of the competitor that Khabib is/was, Umar will come back significantly improved, working significantly harder and will be champ next time he fights for the belt.

There’s no doubt Umar got humbled in that fight, I don’t think anyone can disagree there but I’d say Merab vs Umar was a lot more competitive than Pereira vs Ankalaev. I mean outside of defending takedowns what exactly did Pereira do?
