I think that war with Durinho probably hit him mentally. He is probably taking time out to refine his game seeing that brute force and pressure alone doesn't work against the elite.

Why would Khamzat get a MW title shot?

His last fight he missed weight at WW and he hasn't beat any ranked MW's.

If Alex wins this weekend I could see the UFC giving Khamzat a match against like Cannonier, Vettori, or Costa at like UFC 289 as that card is kind name lacking as of now. If he wins that they set up Alex vs Khamzat Oct Abu Dhabi card.
