Why would Khamzat get a MW title shot?

His last fight he missed weight at WW and he hasn't beat any ranked MW's.

To think this guy fought like 3 times in as many weeks or whatever it was, through the pandemic era. Now all he does it talk shit about everyone and ultimately doesn't fight.

Fighting often is almost as important as winning in exciting style when it comes to developing popularity. Khamzat fighting every weekend one month catapulted him to fame. He doesn't need to do that anymore, but too much sitting undercuts a fighter's fanbase eventually.

I'd like to see him fight again soon... but he's worked his hardest to become extremely unlikable and his 'superman' persona was tarnished after squeaking by Burns.

Now I just wanna see him humbled

once in Sweden in July/August against some MW and once more in October for MW belt against Perriera.

I’m tired of this clown. Any of his next fights if against an elite fighter will expose him totally.

Look at how funny he looked being knocked down and kicked away by Burns. This dude is weak

At UFC's current horrendous pace, one. Maybe.

He should have already had another fight since Holland.

Probably none.

He is going to sit out till late 2024 because Dana promised him he gets an immediate title shot at WW.

First Colby gets his
Then Masvidal gets one
If the first Colby fight is a decision then we do a Colby rematch
Then Khamzat gets his shot

Meanwhile, by this time Belal will be on a 14 fight win streak. lol

He was really really tired at the end against Burns. If he (as he should be) fight in MW it is just impossible for him to be champ. I cant see him win against Pereira, Adesanya og Whittaker. But on the other side i dont think he has the courage to meet them.

I think him nearly losing and getting finished by a LW is making both him and the ufc cautious about what fights he takes

Maybe he'll fight this year, but no way it's more than once. His career has taken an odd and disappointing turn. I think the UFC still wants him at 170, but he's never going to make that weight again.

I honestly think Khamzat would fight more often but he has the UFC with their plans (waiting for timing for WW or MW) and then also top fighters are refusing fights (probably WW's because they don't know if he makes weight and MWs because he hasn't beat a top guy yet). Really sad situation considering his best win he made 170 against Burns and missed weight against a joke match with Nate that was only supposed to boost his popularity.

Burns was the top ranked guy at WW when Khamzat beat him, and the only guy above Burns hadn't fought again for him to even get booked. Normally that would've been enough for anyone to get a title shot, especially as an exciting and popular fighter.

I'm a fan of Khamzat, but he's gonna have a tough road at MW. I'd want to see how he does with Whittaker. That's a fun fight on paper.
