How is Khamzat a betting favorite over Edwards?

There's lots of footage for Khamzat. All his fights are on youtube. He just shows no weakness in any of them. The footage is there, it's just that he actually has no weaknesses.
Tape of top fighters fighting bums only tells you so much. Quality footage is lacking from Khamzat. He's the biggest question mark in UFC history that has ever fought a contender fighter. If he beats Leon he has an argument to get the next title shot. THats just nuts.

He wasn't fighting bums. Some of those guys were clearly UFC level. Like the undefeated Sambo world champion he fought. That guy was really good. Leon isn't as much of a jump in competition as people think. That org he was fighting in had some really good talent.

Yup, the Sambo champion was Ikram Aliskerov. Easily not a "bum." Honestly that win is probably better than any single one of Leon's wins in his current streak.

I think it's a test for both. It will be the first properly sized Welterweight Edwards take on for some time.

Yes RDA is good, Yes Nelson is legit, Yes I like Cowboy.. but they should all fight at lightweight .

Edwards is legit as well, I just have this sneaky feeling Khamzat is a maniac that will smack him like an evil toddler.

Just a gutfeeling..
I was on the Brandon Thatch hypetrain so i have been wrong as shit before

I have that feeling as well...I just feel like Khamzat is going to wreck leon. the guy is relentless...attack attack attack.

Khamzat is a different kind of animal than O'Malley and ppl know that.

Can Rocky win? Of course!
Should he be favorite? I'm not too sure.

Just because Khamzat hasn't fought against any top 10/20 fighters doesn't mean he won't win. His style is very dominant, he has knock out power, a savage mentality and is praised as the next big thing by legit top fighters.

Leon Scott in comparison was inactive, got besmirched by Masvidal, is a boring decision fighter, whiny, overall unlikable and got taken down by Barbarena.

if you watch any of khamzat's fights, before he even got into the ufc...the guy honestly loves to fight. big smile, just can't wait to get in there and rip your head off...

Wishful thinking and hype by everyone. Khamzat has looked fantastic in his last few fights but yeah, I agree, the number 1 or 2 contender who is proven vs a barely 15 guy. Logically Leon should be the betting favorite.

Eitherway I hope Khamzat wins. I think almost everyone would rather see Khamzat fight for the belt including Usman and Dana White

i wouldn't bet on leon simply because this whole thing stinks to high heaven, and there's no telling what kind of bullcrap the ufc will pull to get khamzat the w.

Do you also believe that the earth is flat and that the government is just blinding us to the truth?

Yap, he won't quit due to some twisted anckle.

if Khamzat wins this via some first punch KO or something the hype train is going to be the biggest sherdog has ever seen

there will be title shot threads within minutes

There are a couple of possibilities.
Betters aren't always smart. They try to educate themselves, but are definitely susceptible to hype. Lacy was a slight favorite over Calzaghe, and looking back that was crazy given the skillet that they had shown to that point.

The other possibility is that the large betters know something that isn't public. Either Khamzat is smashing monsters in the gym, there is an undisclosed injury, Leon might be having trouble getting his camp organized, or something like that.

Obviously, it could also be a combination of the two.

How does that make any sense?

I get it that Khamzat has been active and looks like a monster, but Edwards has been undefeated for 5 years and has beaten much higher level competition.

If I were a betting man, I'd go Leon 100% with these odds.

Khamzat can definitely win this fight but there is also a big chance that this is going to be O'Malley-Vera all over again.
to quote you "If I were a betting man, I'd go Leon 100% with these odds."
This seems to indicate you are sure Leon wins, if so then money placed on Leon is not a bet, it is an investment, go for it
On another note the odds are mostly a reflection on which way the money is going, bookmakers are in the business of making money if everybody wants to put money on khamzat he is going to be the favorite, they want to reduce their potential payout

Leon has a piss weak resume, how he thinks he should be number 1 contender is beyond me.

One minute I look at this fight and think Khamzat is going to run through him and then a bit of realism hits me and I realise Leon's actually pretty solid.

I'm hoping he takes Khamzat into the last round at least and gives him a tough test. But I think Kham takes this.
