How big of a chance do you give Blaydes against Aspinall?

If blaydes wins everyone gonna jump off Tom's bandwagon and declare that's the guy who's gonna beat Jon Jones lol smfh
I'm not. Styles make fights and Blaydes is a really bad matchup for Tom. Moreso than Jones. DC would have been a worse matchup for Tom than Jones as well.

Win or lose I still think Aspinall is a generational talent and will go on to have an all time great career at HW.

Sherdog would become insufferable for a bit due to all the Jones fanatics coming back out of the woodwork, but it doesn't change that Jones ducked him, and Blaydes winning wouldn't change my opinion about how Aspinall/Jones would go. Still think Aspinall wins that fight.

Anything can happen but I think Asp is too fast for him. Ngannou is pretty wild and made it look easy again him twice. Same goes for Lewis.

Blaydes has a great shot assuming he doesn't get KO'd in the first round. All of his losses are due to getting chinned by the three hardest hitters in the sport. He's never really lost a round other than the fight with Almeida where he got outwrestled in the first.

I give him a slim chance to win this one. I think Tom is just too sharp and fast and will TKO Curtis in round 1.

just like jones prayed for more than a decade wiping generations of fighters
same story im tired
Same story recurring. Turns down the whole division to fight an ancient. Very ungoatsmanlike dude. Tell me orca why the man sit 3 years and move to HW to rank squat and twitter finger

There doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion surrounding this fight, maybe because people think it's a foregone conclusion that Aspinall wins?

Aspinall is the deserved favourite. Very fast starter, dangerous finisher and Blaydes has been knocked out a couple of times, but I think Blaydes has a real chance if he can get Aspinall down early and extend the fight into the second round. Let's see what Aspinall's TDD and cardio is like.

I see this as a 60/40 fight in Toms favor.
Blaydes is definitely not dead in the water here.

As good a chance as anybody imo.

I've said for years that Blaydes is the worst matchup for Aspinall in the division. Since before their first fight.

He's a good striker, that can match Aspinall's size, and while he isn't as fast, he's one of the faster guys at HW, especially as one of the larger guys in the division.

And then there's the wrestling. Aspinall's takedown defense is untested against a high level wrestler. He was taken down over and over by Stewart Austin early in his career, but that was with judo. He was very aggressive coming in and Austin was able to throw or trip him every time. He clearly figured that out though because Spivac who's a good judo guy couldn't do anything even after he got a hold of Aspinall. Against a wrestler though, it's an unknown.

Where I do think Aspinall has an advantage is fight IQ. Aspinall does the right things in the right moment, and seems to thrive under the pressure. Blaydes regularly brain farts and throws winnable fights away by doing the wrong things.

I do think Aspinall is the better fighter and I do expect him to beat Blaydes, but Curtis winning this fight wouldn't be a shock or even a huge upset to me.

You really have to keep the sense making to a minimum sir, you're gonna scare the children lol.

Just noticed randomly that Blaydes hasn't gotten a takedown since 2021

Possibly a good chance we don't find anything out about Aspinall's TDD :(

1 punch can make the difference at heavyweight. So probably good. I'm hoping Tom has success though.

I think that Aspinall is the best heavyweight in the world right now, if you don't count Ngannou.

But Blaydes is no bum, he has a real chance, if he can do more than wrestling, 40/60 Blaydes.

I think Tom is too sharp on the feet, but we dont really know how he does off his back. If Blaydes gets him down it could get really interesting but I have a feeling Aspinall finishes it quick in round 1.

I hope so, and I don't see why not. I want him to remove that niggling doubt/blip from his record

Curtis has negative fight iq. He chose to stand with Sergei and only shot after he was rocked badly. I can’t see him making the right moves against Tom. He’d have to land big and take advantage of the fact Tom leaves his chin in the air.

30-35%.

I don't think Blaydes is going to try to wrestle, but Tom might and I'm not sure how well that would go for Curtis.

He changed his style up. He hardly tries to get takedowns anymore.

Between the backlash of him wrestlefucking Volkov and then losing to Lewis on a bad TD attempt things changed.

I favored blaydes in the first one, but not so sure this time. I think it's pretty clear blaydes has declined a somewhat significant amount (or other hws are catching up).

Same odds as in every other fighter in a fight.

A puncher's chance... plus 5% extra being that it's a big HW throwing the leather. I think Aspinall's pretty hungry, and I think he's going to want to make a statement. If he puts Blaydes away emphatically, everyone will at least get to enjoy watching Dana and Jon squirm doing mental gymnastics trying to keep Tom away from coming for that belt.
Huh? Ur way off on... just about everything
