Holm's Camp turned down Cyborg fight at 198

Holly wants the rematch with Tate which is a possibility at UFC 200, why would she risk doing anything else at this time? I hope the people saying she's ducking in this thread are just trying to be funny(unsuccessfully). Saying you're willing to fight someone doesn't mean you just disregard all other matters and ignore circumstances and consequences.

This was a win-win for Holly, even if she lost. She would have the distinction of 'stepping up' to fight Cyborg, before Ronda, AND a huge paycheck to boot. To be frank, with Cyborg's reputation Holly would not have lost much ground with a loss. I'm a bit bemused at her thought process and decision on this

To me I think it's common sense really. Cyborg was never going to get a top three or even top five fighter on her debut bout, at a catchweight. Like many have said it only benefits Cyborg. If she wins in dominant fashion, and fights at 135 afterwards, then yeah I could see it, but right now there's not much of an upside in fighting Cyborg, other than this preconceived notion that you get bragging rights in beating her. I'd rather fight someone in my division and get the title back, not fuck around with someone who can't even get into the weightclass.

its only ducking when its ronda, for everyone else its just a non titlefight outside of their weightclass and doesnt make sense

MMA fans want fighters to constantly take the toughest fights even if it doesnt make any sense financially, but will forget and shit on these fighters if they do take the hard fights and lose two/three in a row.

It's funny how these girls like Meisha and Holm say they would be willing to fight Cyborg at a catchweight and when they are offered the fight they turn into chicken shits. Just shows how they fear the GOAT WMMA fighter. They know this will be the end result for them.

Makes sense. I mean, there is no credibility issue with Holly. She has proven herself. I definitely do not think she is afraid of Cyborg. Also, fighting Cyborg if she regains the belt is a much bigger deal as well.

Difference is that Ronda had cleaned out the division in such a dominant fashion that a super fight made sense at the time. Taking a superfight when you are coming off a title loss doesn't make much sense career wise.

Why would anyone necessarily want Cyborg in Curibita, Brazil in short notice?

I most certainly have never been accused of anything short of "fringe" bashing Holly, but this S is ridiculous.

Hell, if Werdum somehow loses his belt, make him fight Fedor in his first UFC fight in STary O, Russia on short notice?

Sherdog never ceases to amaze me. Thanks all!

I don't think it's fear per say though, just smart carreer planning. Cyborg does nothing for them at the moment when so close to a title shot. Honestly they probably would fight her if otherwise, but right now it's makes more sense to try for the belt then a catchweight bout.

Can't blame her. She might still be in the run for that title shot. Beating Cyborg isn't going to bring her much.

Holm is going to fight for the belt again probably in her next fight. Why would jeopardize that to fight at a fake weightclass?

You have no idea what kind of paycheck they were offering and if she gets Hulk-smashed by Cyborg it certainly is not a "win". It would hurt her.

Funny. People said it was Ronda and called her a coward. Didn't Holly say she would fight Cyborg at any weight if given the fight? Where are the Holly fans at now? lol
SMH

Holly destroyed Ronda.

Ronda acted like it was the end of the world.

...which would explain the fact that she was shitting in the woods, but I digress.

Ronda may NEVER fight again...

The bottom line is that Holly OWNS Rondas soul, and it's straight up NOT SMART for Holly to fight Cyborg right now.

As I said earlier in this thread, the UFC doesn't want classy fighters like Holly, as they tend to draw less attention, therefore, they would love to have Holly relegated to obscurity.

Cowardly duck by Holm. If this was Ronda, you'd all be calling her a coward.

She did the right thing. Borg is a repeated cheat and should be blackballed. And LOL at everyone who said it was Ronda. You twats are legitimately stupid.

Not a good look, she said she'd take the fight then backed out. Don't see how not having to defend the belt puts her at a disadvantage compared to a few weeks ago saying she'd take the fight and a win basically guarantees her a title shot. I like Holly but this looks like a total duck.
