In America, the president is just the front of a coalition. You're really voting for a party, and she's the likely nominee of the only major party not controlled by idiots. As for why she'd get the nomination, she's extremely bright and she has a first-class education, loads of relevant experience, a solid team already in place, and the credibility needed to raise the funds necessary for a presidential campaign. Her unsavory personal characteristics and ideological leanings aren't enough of a factor to outweigh those other factors. I won't vote for her in the primary, but I think it would be irresponsible to vote for a Republican over her in the general.
