You were implying that Obama's victory was driven by motivations that don't actually match the votes.

i think that obama being black was the tipping point that gave him the victory. of course, the, "anti-bush" folks also played a part. but as the campaign continued to move forward, the media started playing up obama's race, and how, "history" is potentially going to be made. part of it was the anti-bush sentiment, like mentioned. but a lot of people wanted to break the white-stronghold in the white house, as a sign of the entire world moving past race. ironically enough, it was that very thing that gave obama the presidency.

and with hilary clinton, people are going to want to do the same with a woman in the white house. i would bet that most women in the u.s. will vote for a woman candidate.

in the end, it's a popularity contest.

wow, that was some simplistic analysis in the op. even for the war room.

So McCain and Palin were the victims of affirmative action. Generally disastrous policies from the GOP over 8 years and a shitty GOP ticket weren't too important.

What about 2012 when Obama still won over 50% of the popular vote (by more than W did in 2004)? Was that still because he was black?

It was because Mitt Romney was a Mormon you bigot.

That, and the fact that he seemed to basically view the country as a warzone between welfare recipients and benevolent plutocrats who were totally only so rich because they're so virtuous.

One with the most $$$ in bribes, sorry, donations wins.

I think the saying goes "Those Who Have the Gold Make the Rules"

Can you imagine if there were devious groups wealthy and powerful enough to stack both sides so no matter who won they get their way? That would be something!

Obama has been a good president in a shitstorm era for Americans, two wars that broke the country and made a few men even richer its good to see US working its diplomacy with Iran and Cuba.

I think Hillary will do a bad job as a president at least in foreign policy and if it goes bad that means 100s of civilians being killed in a pointless war. She tries hard to pass a tough image to prove she is competent, that will go bad if she gets complete power.

Hilary is a bad candidate.

But compared to whom? I don't think the GOP can run anyone to beat her, I don't think the country will elect another Bush, the first one was an okay president but not great, the second was the worst in history. Meanwhile Clinton was a great president, and Hillary could easily spin it as we are returning to the Clinton days, which most Americans remember fondly (fondle pun intended).

You see, this guy gets it.

She let her husband run wild, I can't expect her to know how to put her foot down for the good of a country.

She let her husband slide because of power, the big picture, thinking for her future. Thats not bad for a leader but shows how power hungry she is.

In what world was a McCain-Palin ticket a winner? Jon "Bomb, bomb, Iran" McCain and Sarah "I'm a high-functioning special needs child" Palin weren't ever getting near the White House. A ham sandwich probably would have gotten the same percentage of the vote that Obama did. No GOP candidate was going to win in '08, McCain got the nomination as a pat on the back for sucking up to Bush after what they did to him in 2000. Any benefit Obama might have gotten because of his race were offset by votes lost because of race.

You fuckers are delusional. Obama's victory in 2012, despite losing a lot of liberal support, confirms your "math" is fucking stupid. Obama won in 2012 by more than Bush did in 2004 despite a lower voter turnout than seen in '08 or '04.

Unfortunately for you we are not delusional. Guys like IDL get it too. Our theory is correct and it will continue to be proven correct. When it all comes to fruition you will have no way out. You see that's how this works, if you make predictions based on a theory and they become true, your theory is likely correct.

Hey I'm not predicting Hillary. Too many variables to predict who the winner will be from my point of view, but that is not to say there aren't people who already know who it will be.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeb or Ted won either. At the end of the day they all work for the same people so it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Maybee 2016 is a good time for the GOP to nominate Rand Paul though I know they never will because Rand is not an enthusiastic supporter of Netanyahu. Not to mention years back Rand said the US should stop foreign Aid, including Aid to Israel.

Rand Paul has strings too, doesn't he?

I couldn't agree more. But I am predicting Hilary on the basis of Gender politics and the glass ceiling angle.

Remember when Ron Paul was cut out of the debates? The guy was very popular and the media misled the public about approval ratings until he was cut out of the debates. So don't give me the crap about Obama not having any opposition to get office. They paved the road for him by putting in horrible candidates and ignoring Ron Paul. Also Christie would have been a good Pres but he was "too fat" as the media said.
