That's the actual problem that happened here. This was a very late stoppage, not an early stoppage; the ref was just too small and scared to try to get between a couple of heavyweights when they wouldn't both have a good view of him.

Claiming that it was an early stoppage is a delusional attempt to make it seem like a mistake of judgment rather than a career crippling fear response. That stop was a couple of seconds or solid strikes too early to be an actual early stop.
