Herb Dean's horrible refereeing exposed

Herb is a dog of Dana White and for the reward Dana gave him the undeserving fame. Do whatever Dana says and be his slave, he will give you some $$$

dude, go watch dan hardy's video...unless he took it down...he pointed out many of herbs fights, where he made terrible calls....herb has many so many bad calls, it's hard to even count them...
 
Herb is a UFC company man. Dana will always keep him around. On top of being corrupt he is getting worse at reffing in general
 
I don't recall enough of his early or late stoppages to be upset about that. What I do know is he lets fouls go over and over and over, even when they're blatant. And that's bad reffing.
 
Yeah that CB fight was such bullshit. Anyone could see the guy was obviously done.

Yeah there might have been a time herb was good, but he's become the worst thing in mma. If he's not letting semi or out people get beat into the matt, he's stopping fights after one punch while a fighter is getting back up. McCarthy retired when the game passed him by herb needs to go too.

But that's not saying anything really. Every single ref, even the very worst, makes the right call the vast majority of the time, because the vast majority of the finishes in MMA are clear and easy to call, even we could make them. It's Herb's reputation as "the best in the biz" that pisses people off, because they clearly see he isn't. And it's not because of what happened with Hardy, his reputation has declined among the fans for years already, in case you haven't noticed. He has become from one of the most loved refs to one of the most hated, that doesn't just happen easily without a legit reason.

I know refereeing is not an easy job, but to get called "the golden standard", "the best in the business", etc. imo you have to make the right call in stopping a fight AT LEAST 95% of the time. Herb doesn't.

Here is your golden standard destroying 25 year old fighters career by letting him taking unnecessary brain damage for over half a minute. Waldburger never fought again.

ok, but it sounds like a lot of this has to do with other people hyping him. i don't think he's the best in the business, i think Big John is. if we're holding refs to the 95% standard, i doubt most any of the other refs will make it. i think maybe Mike Beltran is probably the best for the UFC right now, seeing as i can't remember or haven't heard anyone bitching about something he's done.

for me, being a good ref isn't just about making the right calls at the end of the fight, it's also about not interjecting yourself into the fight needlessly AND interjecting yourself when it is needed. not many referees are like that and for me, affecting the fight one way or the other, is just as bad or even worse than making a late stoppage because they basically give 1 fighter an advantage the other fighter can't/couldn't take into account or even stop from happening.

but i do agree with the general sentiment of your post.

Herb had ONE stoppage that looked like a UFC approved hit. Dolloway pissed someone off. No way you make me believe that wasnt intentionally done. Other than that meh whatever

then why even reply? saying he's a bad ref is more nuanced than anyone seems to realize. are the fuck ups so egregious? how are his 30 fuck ups compared to other refs? and if these other refs have less fuck ups, do they even ref as many matches as Herb does? how far apart are all these fuck ups? are we talking years or every event he refs?

being a bad ref isn't just about making fuck ups, it's about how he compares to the other refs. because if the other refs are just as bad, why the fuck is everyone only bitching about Herb? because Dan Hardy did?

Herb Dean sucks. Most overrated ref ever.
 
Dunno if I can say he sucks, is horrible, or whatever, it's tough job.

But he's simply worst ref, by far, out of all the 'major' ones who keep appearing at bigger events. That much is sure.
 
Everyones bitching is gonna make refs stop the fights after a small knockdown now. Sjw culture seeping in to mma..
