Media Helwani: UFC putting "good faith effort" in to make Jones vs Aspinall, won't be their fault if it doesn't happen

I understand what you're saying but there is a huge downside... the UFC reports fighter pay and when you grossly overpay a fighter to show up you have just raised the bar for every fighter after that.
For context Jones wants 30 million for this... a bit loftier than just 5 plus points.
They really dont, only CSAC reports actual purses, and they can probably still pay more without the need to report it, i think Islam got less on purse alone than Merab who was fighting in the same card, if, and there isnt really any IF´s regarding location, this fight would happen in Las Vegas, they dont report purses and less taxes (afaik, im not from the US), or, unless they get Saudi money to pay for it, then they would have it over there in the middle of the day here and bombing on PPV as per the usual Saudi fight, but they wouldnt lose money on it, Saudi will, if they do that.

I would consider fair effort anything above 10mill + PPV
I chalk up the gifted Stipe defense as the UFC's opportunity to take an L by putting some money in that. If Jon didn't get bonused for that, then he missed his chance, time to fight again for the standard fare
That fight probably did alright for the UFC and Jones didnt demand anything special, this one, he knows his legacy is actually in danger against Aspinall and he trully doesnt want the fight unless he gets crazy money, im not sure where he said the $30million number to be honest, i think it comes from some Wilder related comments about getting "boxing money".

They’re giving Tom 250k checks to sit on the sidelines and we already know that Jones makes bank every fight. Everyone honestly is probably just tired of the shit at this point UFC included.
Im not sure the UFC would give him a cent, they dont like to pay fighters that get fights canceled at the scale, let alone pay a guy for doing nothing, while well, there is NOTHING he can do but sit and wait, Aspinall cant go fight Ngannou or anyone else, not the UFC.

The severely autistic UFC can't read the tea leaves, as usual. We don't care about this. The hype came, and it went. We want more Fight night 12/12 no names. MORE CARDS MORE FLYWEIGHT INSANITY the ufc needs to hook up with the illegal streamers and analyze their data, find out what the real fans are tuning in for. There's no money in a Heavyweight title fight, NONE. IT's 2025 FFS. MORE VIRNA

Jon should have asked for something special since that was clearly just for show all around. Ask the circus for crazy while they're being crazy. I'm pretty sure $30mil was a Rogan-invented number.

Defend or vacate. It is past time to strip him if he's not gonna sign.

Everyone knows this fight isn't going to happen and they're wasting Aspinall's time.

The issue is Jones wants Deontay wilder money and the ufc knows Aspinall isn’t a draw so they’ll lose a ton of money if they agree and it’ll set a bad precedent for the rest of the roster wanting more money

I know Jones haters will not agree but I don't believe for a second Jon wouldn't sign a deal immediately if UFC called Jonny up and said "we'll give you a cool 30 mil"

He most certainly deserves 30 mil. What was Dana going around saying every day for the last year about how Jones is the greatest ever? Show it to us by paying him big boy money then.

The UFC wants this fight, Tom wants this fight, Jon is being a diva and holding up.

Watch them hire another Jon Jones and have Tom face that one for the HW belt

The reigning defending undisputed champion

True but that's the assumption Jon will only accept 30 million. Will he take 20? 22? 25?

I wonder if 30 is his absolute lowest number. I kind of doubt that.

I'm at the point where I don't give a fuck, I want Jones/Aspinall, but if it doesn't happen by July or so then I'm totally happy with Aspinall being champ and the division moving forward. I'm totally sick of the HW division being stalled out by the champ.

2007-2025
Randy Couture stalls his title defense for a year until he can fight Brock.
Brock defends, but waits a year because he has a medical issue then loses to Cain.
Cain takes over a year to lose belt to JDS
JDS loses to Cain 2x, but Cain gets injured and takes forever to fight Werdum and loses.
Werdum loses immediately to Stipe.
Now Stipe is the only real champ without problems defending 3x, until it comes with DC.
DC/Stipe trilogy takes 3 fucking years, only for Ngannou a year later to get the belt.
Ngannou takes a year to fight Gane and looks horrible and vacates.
Jones beats Gane and gets injured and takes over a year to fight Stipe.

Now we're waiting our usual year for Jones/Aspinall..

Just move it along.
