Opinion Hegseth to U.S. generals: "Prepare for war."

Is that really how you'd describe him? His idea of diplomacy is to threaten loudly and then shoot some missiles to intimidate.
That is not at all how I described him, that's how I characterized this phrase. Yes, I absolutely believe that's his intent. Frankly, whether or not one believes it is sincere, there is no alternative interpretation of his speech that is compelling.

That's why moments later he's insisting, "Not because we want war. No one here wants war. But it's because we love peace....our number one job, of course, is to be strong so that we can prevent war in the first place."

Not a fan of him but there is nothing wrong with saying this - that is their literal job.

You dont want our military ready to fight if required and be at the best they can be.

Do you think the military wasn't ready to fight? do you also think that it was required to remove all high command from everywhere around the world to give a speech that somehow would change that readiness to fight instead of you know, ordering them to do so?

Oh my bad lol

I work on all sorts of applications. I was an AE in the navy 🍻
Roger that. Yeah, I'm not expert on maritime manufacturing. I know the hull on most naval vessels is generally pretty thin but the interior bulkheads vary. I'm not gonna pretend to understand why that is tho lol.

My man Can K is out here building warships and Sherdogging. Maybe he can get Pistol Pete on the phone and ask him who we're invading.

😆

I dont even like Hegseth. I just like pissing off screamers more

Should have just been an email

Hmm maybe I need to look more into this.. I assumed there was some kind of closed door meeting before/after this.. THAT was the entire get-together?

Certain spaces are surrounded by shit nearly 2’ thick. The skin is like the aluminum on a car door, the real strength is in the frame

‘Could have been an email’: Officials balk at Hegseth's generals meeting

The last-minute gathering featured hundreds of senior military officials, who swear an oath to the Constitution, attending something more akin to a campaign rally.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s speech to top generals was supposed to serve as a rallying cry for military exceptionalism — but it didn’t land that way with many of the people it was targeting.

Numerous defense officials — who watched senior brass scramble to Washington and then sit through a partisan speech from President Donald Trump and a return to old-school military standards by Hegseth — were left wondering why the event had occurred at all.

“More like a press conference than briefing the generals,” said one defense official, who, like others, was granted anonymity due to fears of retribution. “Could have been an email.”

Defense officials, in the Pentagon and at bases around the world, spent much of Tuesday trying to make sense of the last-minute gathering at the Quantico base in Virginia. Hegseth called out “fat generals,” and, separately, pushed fitness standards that could limit women in combat roles, while Trump offered his justification for sending the military into American cities.

The 90-minute event — which featured military officials who swore an oath to the Constitution attending something more akin to a campaign rally — had the feeling of a Hollywood production. Trump even instructed officials to “just have a good time.”

They’re going to war against the American people. This stage of the coup is to ready the military against civilians.

Trump, justifying domestic military action, tells Pentagon leaders to ‘handle’ the ‘enemy from within’

The president suggested “dangerous” American cities should be used as Pentagon “training grounds” during a dark and winding 72-minute speech.

By IRIE SENTNER and PAUL MCLEARY

President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave a campaign-style speech to the nation’s top military brass, suggesting that the Pentagon use American cities as “training grounds” for its troops in a remarkable break from decades of precedent that sought to keep politics and the military separate.

The 72-minute speech at the Marine base at Quantico, Virginia, just south of Washington, offered many of Trump’s favorite talking points: renaming the Gulf of Mexico, condemning unauthorized immigrants and trashing diversity, equity and inclusion. He also mocked “sleepy Joe Biden” and “radical left lunatics” while promoting himself and his policies.

Exactly, fucking disgusting. Everyone in this thread supporting him should be ashamed, but they won’t be.

Some generals and admirals are going bye bye.
