KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Three people were killed and a fourth was wounded in a stabbing at a truck stop in Tennessee Tuesday morning that ended when the assailant was fatally shot by a responding sheriff's deputy, authorities confirmed.​

The attack was reported to 911 shortly before 7 a.m. at a Pilot Travel Center off Interstate 40. Investigators have yet to establish a motive, said Leslie Earhart, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.​

“At this point, that's what we're trying to determine,” she said.​

The attacker has been identified by the TBI as Idris Abdus-Salaam, a 33-year-old truck driver from Durham, North Carolina.

I've got a petty good idea of the motive - TBI must have fairly low cognitive requirements to be an investigator.

Will we ever stop pussyfooting around and report these stories like we would any other if they weren't a religious minority?

Officers should get more attention after situations like this. Too often, police are only discussed at length when they mess something up.

They need 24 to 48 hours to investigate in order to ensure the few media outlets that mentioned this story have already dropped it.

The few media outlets? Google, "Three killed" and CNN, USA Today, NBC, New York Times, and Fox all pop up.

Officers should get more attention after situations like this. Too often, police are only discussed at length when they mess something up.

It's become a thankless profession. I wish police were afforded more respect, especially from the media but, unfortunately, a story about a cop doing his/her job does not bring in the ratings as well as stories of police brutality or corruption.

This is 10 minutes down the road from my house out close to Knoxville. TBI is 1000 feet from the gas station, literally. Huge truck driving gas station, think it has showers as well. Semi decent part of town, feel terrible for all families involved.

Was Burger King, actually. For the rest of us, we're either going through a break up orsomething, but for Dylan Roof, it's a "treat". He was "treated" to the most depressing meal ever.

Dude the gas station is 1000 feet away from a TBI heardquarter. I've been to it MANY of times and there is zero prostitution there. There is a truck driving school right next to it as well. Don't post bullshit when you are literally throwing shit at a wall and hoping something sticks.
