Life in solitary confinement. I've heard that solitary confinement is actually horrible, to the point that some people believe it to be inhumane. . He'll have plenty of time to think, that's for sure.

I will never understand our prison system. Why the hell would we care about housing and feeding and taking care of an animal like this?

It's actually backwards of us to preserve his life, after he not only takes a life, but took that of someone weaker than him who is supposed to be protected by males such as himself. He has failed his role in society, biologically speaking he has neglected his god given gifts to protect those weaker than himself. For decades, he will be provided for by tax payers when he has already opted out of the system. Take him out back, and shoot him in the head. Seriously, is this even an outlandish opinion I'm sharing?

Aside from the fact that I am opposed to the death penalty: I am actually always a bit upset when these kind of people get killed by police or commit suicide before getting arrested or in jail. I want them to go through the proper process and get punished, not get the easy way out. Quickly shooting them would save them that part. While as I said,I am opposed to the death penalty, I like that usually convicts in the US spend decades in prison before getting executed.

Mass murder, serial killers/rapists. As brutal as this is, it's a single victim.

He actually struggled to end her life and repeatedly attempted to kill her. He put in serious effort to get it done.

He deserves the death penalty, and his death will almost certainly be far more humane than the one he visited on his victim. That’s all the mercy he deserves.

Sounds like a death sentence. But why do gangs form like this in Prison? Why is it so racial? Could it be that when things are stripped away like our Utopian society people revert back to primal and biological needs?

Because the people in there longest are the ones who have spent enough time in to gain the most power in there. Racial segregation was a huge thing back during the 70s and 80s and that influence carried on. Once things in prison start, people have a hard time letting them go.

The racial aspect of prison is definitely stronger in California than the East Coast, where races mix regularly.

it is more important to remove the coddling moths from the trees efficiently, than it is to spend too much time torturing an individual coddling moth for your own enjoyment.

Prison is not what it used to be. Not like the movies. There's not many facilities that this guy would get what he deserved.
He needs to die. This sitiation shows no possibility of innocence. In my opinion a painful death. The death penalty is far too humane. Life is prison isn't a punishment for this type of person.

It's common knowledge, but:

It would logically follow that attempted murder would be on the table if the victim suffers life threatening injuries but survives.

A state assemblyman referred to this gentleman as always peaceful despite a previous arrest for slashing a police officer in the face with a knife. This person should not hold a political office.

That's more of a schizophrenia thing than anything else. If their psychosis is allowed to degenerate, they lose touch permanently with reality. Early treatment with anti-psychotics prevents that worsening of symptoms, but the paranoia inherent to the condition means they often go off their meds and they never regain back their previous level of functioning.

Of course the Charlottesville killer was also schizophrenic, but the lefties sure as hell were happy to blame his race and pretend that whitey was coming to kill them in their sleep and put them in gulags.

The big story is how shit our mental health system is.

If someone like this with a past history of violence is off his meds because he doesn’t want to take them he is a danger. To remain free he should be required to come into a local clinic to get them everyday or be committed.

Who in the hell could even think he is not a danger. The laws and service needs to change.

I guess this only fits here, but I must say I find it odd that if you flipped the transgressors this would undeniably be a story with a distinctly political character. Frankly, I think this sort of incident explains a lot.

So this guy kills an 82 year old woman. Beats her to death. Since this is Canada, jurors heard some evidence about some of Marshall’s criminal record for offences involving violence, but did not hear he was on probation and bail when he killed Tetsos, nor that he had been convicted of aggravated assault for a similar crime.

In his address, defence lawyer Chris Hicks argued his client’s intention was to steal jewelry — not kill Tetsos.

A number of facts prevented Marshall, homeless and drug-addicted, from foreseeing the likelihood of Tetsos’s death, Hicks continued. He was too stoned and drunk to form the intent to murder and was unaware she had health “deficits” that contributed to her death, including heart and kidney disease and osteoporosis, which “made her ribs particularly vulnerable to impact blows.”

Yeah, you read that correctly, his lawyer is arguing "He was to drunk and stoned" to know what he was doing. This is alarming. I've said to many people before here, we do not have a real justice system in Canada, nor do we have actual prisons for people, we have adult daycare. Can any lawyers here weigh in on this? Can somebody be too drunk and stoned to get away with murder? Also, why would somebodies violent past, for the same crimes be omitted in a court case?
